Maybe............................. Depends how nicely you ask .......
Im busy modifying it. The runway surface floats about 4ft above ground level, as does the amphitheatre. I would suspect that it wasnt made for 20m mesh.
Very nice little job in general.
Lawrie.

Eeek...guilty as charged. I am the author of Cape Kidnappers.
Apologies for the troubles caused....and it's my first upload to Avsim, too. How embarassing.
Yes..I made it with the Red Baron 75mesh installed. I should have mentioned this in the preamble.
A rich American came over and bought this slice of NZ and, thanks to the Hastings District Councul, got planning consent to put a golf course there, along with accommodation. That's ok, I guess...but I wondered what it would look like if they made it into a holiday resort.
The finished scenery was good enough to share...and particularly with the short runway..I decided to upload it.
Once again, sorry for the muck-up.

Oh...does this mean that I should get a volunteer to test out my NZHS and NZMS scenery? It's done with EZ-Scenery objects, but I haven't obtained permission from the authors to distribute.

Masterton and Hastings in one package.
My first project with EZ-Scenery. Looks a bit of a mess in the folders, but it works.
Oh..and I based it on the Red Baron 75 mesh...like Cape Kidnappers.
Actually, it still looked ok without the Red Baron mesh.
Don't expect total accuracy, (well...not even half). It's just to make the default areas look a bit better.
Oh..I forgot to remove the default tower at NZHS.
NZMS & NZHS file
HERE for a limited time, ('cos I need da space).
Cheers,

Hi there Goff_NZNR.
No need to apologise or feel embarrassed for your efforts. A very nice little job it is.
I usually always modify and add to sceneries to improve them, or change to suit myself.
As for your idea about wondering what it would look like as a holiday resort,...... thats exactly what im doing to it. I have added a sealed runway and taxiways, a small terminal, and a couple of GA hangers. Also added roads, and an amusement park and other details. In the process of adding houses and beach cottages, a shopping center and other such details.
Looking good so far.
Downloading your Hastings and Masterton sceneries as i write this. Be interesting to compare your Hastings to the one i built for myself.
Keep up the good work mate
Lawrie.

Thanks, Lawrie. Sounds like you're really gettin in behind the Kidnappers development. I wonder what the locals would say, (have you obtained consent from the Environmental people? Ha ha).
I think 'they' want to turn nearby Ocean Beach into a sort of Gold Coast type place...so maybe that's another project to think about.
Cheers,
Goff
PS: My scenery is for fs9 only.

Gudday Goff.
The NZMS and NZHS sceneries are very nice.
Had to make some modifications to suit the 20m mesh, but very nice sceneries indeed.
Well worth the download
Ever thought about turning your scenery skills loose on NZNR Napier airport itself ??
We could do with a really nice version of that for FS9.

(not so subtle hint

).
Lawrie.

Hi Lawrie,
Astonished that you liked my NZMS and NZHS sceneries. I didn't think they were accurate enough to share because the buildings were not custom-made. Thanks.
I guess the 'feel' of being at those airports comes through...and, once again, better than the default scenery.
Oh yes...NZNR would be great...with all the new buildings and parking areas. It's a bit dautning, though...from a scenery-making point of view.

Yes Goff, I would imagine doing NZNR would be a fairly daunting prospect. But then, a scenery that captures the "general feel" of Napier would be more than acceptable. You captured the feel of NZHS and NZMS fairly well. The default NZNR is utter rubbish. I am using Andrew McKee's FS2002 Napier Airport scenery.
Very nicely done, but of course, also very dated nowdays.
The Cape Kidnappers Resort Hotel etc is shaping up quite nicely
Might even post some screenies of it here in the next day or two.
Lawrie.

I look forward to that, Lawrie.
I'm using the same Napier scenery. A lot of development since that came out.
Tell you what...I'll start by doing a new Afcad, (reflecting the proposed 590metre extension to the main runway), and post it on the AFCAD post. From there, I might just be tempted to begin on the terminal, with the 'new' tower.

An observation with the Hastings scenery using Christains Topo scenery is that the roads cut through the Airport. This is not the case in real life and maybe like other observations of the AFCADs in NZ being out of alignment. Something that unless you know the airports then you wont notice.
I was aware that Christian did point this fact out with the Topo scenery and one that AFCAD designers were the people to resolve. Prehaps Christian can confirm this for us?
***This is not a critique of the scenery just a observation for a tune up.***

Wow..Lawrie...Kidnappers has certainly come a long way. You've done it with taste, too. I was expecting a Disneyworld-type layout...but this all blends in well with the locality.

Thanks Goff.
I did think about something a little more elaborate, but decided it would be a little too much out of place.
Still quite a few more details to add, but its getting there slowly but surely.
Glad you like it
Thanks for a good base scenery to start from
Lawrie.
