MSFS 2020 Performance with Addons

Postby Ralo133 » Mon Jan 18, 2021 7:47 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering how everyone has found the performance of MSFS 2020 with addons such as scenery or aircraft?? I wonder as I was able to run at high-end before I gave up due to lack of addons available. My question is, what will performance be like with addons with a medium to high end machine and on high end settings? Let me know how you've got on in this situation!

Kind regards,

I've had no problems. i have a mid spec machine which ( in my case anyway) runs msfs with add ons better than fsx or P3d ever did. Mind you i don't fly in large airports or fly very FPS intensive add_ons generally.

I haven't visited any super high detail areas yet like New York City, but flying around Auckland, Brisbane and Sydney with the Carenado aircraft has been totally smooth. I do have a pretty high end PC but I would expect to notice some performance reduction if it was struggling.

Thanks to you both, very helpful. I just hope to be able to run addon aircraft (small jets & GA) and addon airports (plus landmarks for cities). Hopefully the old FSX saying the computer you will have in 10 years will handle it isn't true for MSFS2020...

FS2020 I would say is the opposite of FSX from a performance point of view - the performance is surprisingly good for the level of graphics and complexity. FSX was the opposite! Load times are slow if you don't have it installed on a solid-state drive but that's a fairly small price to pay I would say.

Very glad to hear it! Hopefully they've got it sorted for sure, she's too much of a nice software to have to put aside due to performance issues. Just unfortunate that they didn't allow developers to work with it sooner so that by now we'd have more addons such as aircraft and scenery. Speaking of aircraft, what's on offer currently? The only jet I liked was the CJ4 but it had so many bugs with it I gave up, have they fixed this now? And any news on upcoming scenery products/aircraft for FS 2020? There were only 2 addon aircraft when I had it, both Carenado. I also gave up on it for the time being because the quality of the airports in NZ was just terrible. The feeling of NZAA was awful, as was Christchurch. There was absolutely no detail in either (or any of the other airports in NZ) which forced me to return to FSX/P3D. I was surprised as I thought that with the use of Bing etc there would've been more detail. Is anyone aware of any upcoming projects for airports in NZ for 2020? Let me know any other feedback on 2020 as well, kindly B-)
