So, who knows NZCH really well?

As I've said before, getting access to NZCH wasn't really possible, so I relied on their own photographer, who did an airside shoot for me. I'd really like to add the stop markers to a few of the gates, but I don't have any pics of most of them. Here's a couple which I've 'enhanced', but I still can't make them out. Does anyone have a better idea of what goes where?

Gate 34 -- I can make out 777, as that was parked there:)

Things get even more complicated at the smaller/regional gates.

The only ones I have an idea of are Gates 29 and 30. I was planning on just leaving the markers out, but it would be nice to include a few at least. (I have no real way of figuring where exactly they go...)

Hi Robin,

Can't tell with the first image, but the second looks better.

I think this is what it says:

333 - 345 L1
|
- 757
|
-
|
747 - 777 (Something)
|
- 345 L2
|
- 777 L2
|
- 359?

I think that's what they say, that's what it looks like but I'm not entirely sure.

Yikes, this is the hard part. Most devs just put a generic one in but I appreciate when people go to this much effort. I try to do the same. But I didn't get to this point in my CH dev.
Here's some reference pics I've saved over the years.

Here's another photo of 26. Looks like the 4th spot is of a 767.

Che was pretty spot on, looks to me like:
333 - 345 L1

- 767
|
-
|
747 - 777 350 L1?
|
- 345 L2
|
(?) - 777 L2
|
- 380

The jet domestic gates are all for 737 and 320. Some of them have a spot of Q300 too.

Wow, cheers, guys. That certainly sorts 34.
I know there has to be a story attached to that second pic, but I'll just use my imagination:)! Gate 34 was the first I made, I started with a concrete pad, because I hadn't yet decided how to do the herringbone pattern, and never got around to replacing it. I'm tempted to change it, now that the cat is out of the bag... and the bear....
I may end up just having some unlabelled bars on most of the gates, but it's worth an ask.

Cheers, Nick, but I do have my own, the scenery is basically finished, I'm just tidying up with help from the beta testers. Most of my ground textures are low-res photos with a 'detail' map, so my herringbone is a detail map on some aerial pics of the pads. This is a bit of an experiment, originally I only planned to use it for the aero club, and normal layered textures for NZCH, but at some point I changed my mind -- it's a bit different, as it creates a 'dirty' look, suited to NZCH but not the nice clean textures that other developers use.
Some great shots there!

Cheers I think you are right. Yeah I didn't think of the 767, of course it would be, the 757 is rarer in this part of the world.

Are all the gates similar? Apple maps 3D might have some high res 3D images of the airport, they do have of Auckland airport. It won't be mega clear of the lettering, but it might be a case of if you work out one you can figure out the rest of them.

Apple maps just doesn't quite have the resolution (even in 3D) and also seems quite dated. Looking on Google earth it is current, but like Apple maps, also lacks resolution.

My plan initially was to take some tele shots when I was in the air last, but my tele lens quit on, I think because of the cold. I think I might just scatter some stop bars around most of the gates, this scenery really needs to be finished.
Thanks for all the help!

Rob I should have a PDF copy of the tarmac markings thanks to a contact at CHC.
I will pass on when I get it.

Sounds brilliant, thanks!
May have to wait for an update, as I need to finalise NZCH and get it ready for release.
