NZ Scenery

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby ZL2BMH » Wed Mar 21, 2007 1:34 pm

Hello all.

I am a retiree and reasonably new to flt sims. Just recently I have been steered into new horizons within flt sim9 by another retiree and now instead of flying aimlessly about I can go to places and look at marvelous scenery that I never knew existed e.g VOZZ.

I would like to get new scenery for places within NZ.

Could someone please tell me where I should go to download scenery whether free or not.

many thanks,
ZL2BMH.

You will find that everyone will recommend any and all of the RealNZ scenary. Awesome stuff.

And I would also recommend getting the updated Mesh (either freeware 75m or payware 20m) from Red Baron Entertainment. Basically it gives your more detailed land contours, so instead of the impressive mountain ranges being all rolly polly, they're much more dramatic and lifelike. Look for "Mountains of New Zealand". They also have a 'Topo' package available that puts in lots of roads, rivers, lakes, bridges & airstrips. Check out the 'Roads and Rivers of New Zealand' package.

I am hopefully upgrading to the 20m mesh and Topo package this week. Just need to double check my bank-balance and consult the 'financial controller' ;)

i second that, first thing i install is the 75mesh (all i can afford at the moment), i too have to seek permission from the boss. you can find scenery files on flightsim.com or avsim aswel. follow the readme in the package and you will be fine, any problems ask away here, sure someone will be able to help
