Starting Over

I'm about to start a fresh install of FSX with a 250GB SSD and a 2T Hybrid Drive.

Can anyone give suggestions as the the best process for install and the best payware scenery to install. I have the VLC terrain mesh, but keen to know whether to go with Orbx to include better airports or go down the godzone path?

Appreciate any help or ideas on this, my main concern I guess is over lapping airports and mesh.

Cheers.

Hey yo VA, Welcome back to the wonderful world of VA flying B-) , install your FSX onto your 2T Hybrid Drive for starters.

Only mentioned this last week for another NZFF doing a re-install , VLC is very accurate but the Orbx is prettier and it mesh accuracy leaves some off the airports with required fix's and removing files ... this is not all off them tho.

Looks like you jumped in at the right time to look for payware scenery Rob has this special on http://windowlight.co.nz/godzoneWP/ and it is superb B-) , following that there is plenty off new freeware as well .. Two I try and get released at the end off the week both at flightsim.com .

Thanx Ian,

Ok FSX is on Hybrid drive,

I has installed VLC, but just wondering whether I put in Orbx NI in (as I have it,)? Is it worth the effort or just stick with VLC?

I also have in CD case, (RN= Real NZ)
RN - Auckland City ( Noticed that VLC has good Auckland with NZAA in it) do I bother with Real NZ Auckland City?
RN - Wellington
RN - Tauranga / Rotorua
RN - Wanaka / Tekapo
RN - Marlborough

I have Windowlights Roads and Rivers CD, does that need to go with the VLC or is that covered?

Thanks a bunch, it feels like I'm doing my bachelor all over again :)

Cheers,
Mark

You can still have VLC loaded but times you may get conflicts if you are North Island Orbx with the older scenery, it is a bit of a juggle and what you seriously want I guess, Idea my thinks is simply have a look , as mentioned new photo-real incoming but that co-insides with payware.

The latest Subscription changes, do and change many things making all previous RNZ obsolete ..

Hi Mark
Looking at the disc titles you've listed, are you sure these are FSX? The FS2004 version of Auckland was called 'Real NZ Auckland', from memory, whereas the FSX version is called 'Auckland: Supercity'.

Oops, missed the bit about Roads and Rivers, which isn't my scenery, and from memory it was FS2004 with a patch for FSX -- certainly not required these days.

Hi, Yep actually I do have the supercity version too, which I must have got when I moved to FSX a few years ago, could that go over VLC and or be better than Orbix can provide for Auckland?

Affirm, with regards to R&R.. out the window (you know.. you are still aloud legally to throw anything out of your cockpit that is either not required, too heavy or considered mail:)

Cheers,
Mark
