Oops! Looks like an extra zero slipped into one of my vertices' altitude. wub.gif

My NZKE is axully going quite well, despite that last blunder. Should be ready in a couple of days. Natch it is for my setup, VLC+GZ, but since most of the FTX probs seem to come from ORBX faffing around with elevations, once I get my flatten right, it should only be a matter of adjusting the vertex altitudes. I am essentially building the Waiheke Helipad, plus surroundings. I disabled ABX94450.bgl, to get rid of the default Reeve, which meant I had to find third-party sceneries for the other default airports in that bgl , but they are around.

As usual, NZFF members will be free to use all, any, or none of it as they see fit, except to make money. There will be two members exempt from that last proviso - toprob (GZ) and Timmo (VLC)

This is a link to a pic of Waiheke, from aeropark NZ. As you can see, there are lots of trees around.

Thick forest can cause slow frame rates, on my machine, but what I want is a way to plant large-ish blocks of trees, instead of hundreds of individual ones. In the past I have had success with creating a group of trees, then copy/pasting the group. Is there another way? I am using the VLC Library 1.4 objects.

At the moment, my NZKE looks like this:

And a bit earlier:

It is looking good Mike, you have flattened the field , pity you don't see it with all the AGN trees in.

There weren't that many placed trees to start with...nearly all photoscenery ones. I have a good slope on the runway, and managed to get in the lumps and bumps for the vineyard at the S end. I made a small exclude to disappear a beacon on the runway. The other ground polys shouldn't be excluding anything, since I avoided the "exclude Autogen ' types of mask. unsure.gif

There is a steep drop-off on both W and E sides of the hilltop, but I felt the > 85° slope on the W was stretching the friendship a bit, esp when I was trying to keep the slope along the actual runway. I still don't like it - if you drive around on the ground there are plenty minor flaws, but a few trees and bushes will soon fix them winkyy.gif

I think this will have to do...does anyone know of a good cyclone fence? The ADEX one looks good but is liable to disappear if you turn your head.

Fantastico Mike !!!!!

Minor thing: the trees look a bit Aussie Gum/Eucalyptus don't they? Is this a minor autogen thing or a bit more complicated to fix? Have been to the island, but not the airport. The pic following they look a little more bush-y kind of

Yes indeed they do - I was after rapid coverage, and those are the ones in the VLC library which take up the most space. I might swap them later. I have the same pic, but I couldn't get that 'knobbly' effect quickly. The trees at the north end might do it, mixed in among the tall thin ones.
I have found on my system that dense forest impacts my frame rates (locked at 24fps).
Thanks for the kind words
