Orbx NZQN Issues

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby ScottyB » Tue Dec 03, 2013 12:49 pm

Hi all,

I bought Orbx NZQN last night for my sim. I already have NZSI, NI and Global. At QN now (after Orbx NZQN installation), the textures seem more "blurry" than just the default NZSI generic Queenstown airport. Also, there are dark squares that are shimmering near the terminal. Any idea what is causing this?

Hi Scott

Yea that is a a glitch known to the developer. In true Orbx fashion they denied it with gusto and told everybody it was there hardware/setup but enough people were seeing the same issues so the developer came back saying he would fix this issue with a sp but when that is...thats anyones guess. I myself get the blurred runway texture and also if im flying the circuit and i look back at the runway it goes black and then rebuilds itself.
a minor inconvenience but still a nice addon scenery

Thanks mate. When flying in NZ, what settings should be "active" in FTX Central. Should I active "Global" and tick "Hybrid"; or should I just have "Oceania" active?

Ahh now thats something i'm yet to find out. I haven't purchased FTXGlobal yet but i have read up on how the hybrid setting works (bearing in mind that i don't own it yet) i assume in FTX central you select the default which would be global and then tick the hybrid box which would then allow all your regions you have installed to take presidence over the now default global. i'm assuming you own orbx south island? i know orbx QN does work ok for global but its better suited to fit within the FTX region orbx south island.

As you mention Funky about Queenstown and its flickers and its blackout features , the Global fix a raft of abnormal things such as the gable texture issue , course it dose give the world .

Hi ScottyB,

If you have one or both Orbx NZNI and NZSI installed (which you do), you should always run FTX-Central in "Oceania" mode. It creates the correct vegetation and other stuff for that region.

In general if you have any of FTX's regions installed, you should run FTX-Central that corresponds to that region.

I hope this helps?

Cheers.

Tim...

Just so i cant get my head around this. If i want to see the Region i'm flying in its correct manner then i must choose it in the FTX Central area before booting up FSX? So then what would be the point of choosing the hybrid mode?
(sorry Scott, didn't mean to hijack your thread tongue.gif )

My understanding is that if you have Global and FTX regions, then you use hybrid mode. Setting Global and Hybrid will allow all the regions to work. If you don't choose hybrid, then you only see global, not the regions.
(I don't have Global, so I may be wrong...)

Just to add to the above. If you are flying from say, NZ to AUS and to have both those regions leave it set to Oceana then everything will show as it should. If you only have NZ and wish to fly to AUS set to Global hybrid and you can fly seemlessly both ways. Note that using global hybrid mode allows your regions to work but you do miss out on some features. Sooo, if you are only flying in one region and are not flying to a global only area don't use hybrid.
I hope that helps to explain things a little better.
