Hi all,

I recently upgraded my computer and moved to FSX, I am now only looking for highest quality add-ons.
For NZ scenery I came across New Zealand Vector Land Class selling for $70. It looks very nice but I would like to know few opinions around it.
Does it include to some extend detailed airports a well? How is the performance impact when its get mixed with something like REX Essentials?

What are the other alternatives which are as good?
Well basically I am going to focus on mastering PMDG 737NGX by flying in NZ and few trips to AUS, so would love to have some FSX native scenery and airports for Sydney and Melbourne as well.
Basically I am getting:
REX Essentials
GSX
FS2crew for PMDG 737NGX
NZ and Eastern AUS Scenery
Some AI traffic add-on ( undecided on which to choose)

Many thanks! rolleyes.gif
Ben

I HATED flying around NZ before VLC came along,...it completely transformed FSX NZ..very very well worth the money thumbup1.gif,..I will also reccomend " Shade " by Mogwaisoft for FSX. Shade is a small program that allows you to setup custom colours/tones schemes for FSX's 3d/Terrain lighting/shadow & Fog values this allows you to alter the contrast between light and shadow tones within FSX allowing for creation of more realistic lighting conditions with much better definition/contrast. (pinched from website..they describe it better than I can hah )..for product page go here...

Cheap and in my opinion the best value FSX addon product available !

Thanks guys, I will look at that thread, I was hoping I could make a straight forward decision but it doesn't seem like it. haha

could you please give me some advice on how to setup Shade for the best result( most realistic)?

heya, I use " Winter Chills " at the moment and its bloody good,..just try the presets until you find a setting that looks most realistic to your own eyes,..everyone has a different perspective on what looks real in the PC screen. Go to this link and you will find another set of presets to download and install,..there are some great schemes in that pack too..

Thanks Adrian,

I came across something called ENB which adds some Bloom to FSX, Seems like a great idea and could add good realism to FSX, but heard many issues with it as well. Do you use ENB with Shade as well? or just Shade by itself?

I tried enb thing and it just hit my framerates way too much,..from what I can tell most people use it for taking screenshots but turn it off while actually flying except for those with perhaps higher spec PC's ( not me hah ). It could make for some pretty snazzy screenshots if you can get it running well I guess ..

I liked the effect ( when its not overly done ) . it takes away the cartoon look of FSX away and blends things together. might try it tonight and see how it works , but thanks for your response Adrian smile.gif

Yeah thats right, I did some research and came across two FSX specific configs for it.I liked the screenshot of one which was quite mild but yet added some realism, the other one was more of a beautified FSX than much of realistic way. Second one was good for dawn and dusk , but other one better for day and night, maybe mixture of both gives the best of both smile.gif

Sure, there are not many if you managed to find the FSX modified version of ENB, But here are the settings I liked .

Modify the following in the INI file:

BloomMaxLimit=85 (default 100 is a bit too much bloom)
DarkeningAmountDay=20 (default 40 makes things a bit too dark)
DarkeningAmountNight=15 (default -30 makes things way too light at night)
ColorSaturationDay=1 (bumps up the colors just a little bit)

Give that a try and see how it goes. smile.gif

P.S I downloaded the package from here : http://www.simforums.com/forums/enb-bloom-...topic32482.html

I did delete Shade , in the cockpits it comparably darkened the cockpit and over shadows , only good for the evening screens or morning , good for its price but first id be setting your flights and just test look and compare then bring ute programs in later .

Sometimes the graphics driver play a role in the performance, make sure you have the latest . Do you have Nvidia or ATI?
