Did I miss something?

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby SeanTK » Sat Dec 10, 2011 7:23 am

Didn't Mike (Creator2003) have his own forum subsection down further a short time ago?
On my screen, the entire section and any references to his freeware releases that he has been churning out within the past few weeks is gone.

Mike did clear out his sub-forum this week, but he hasn't given any reason, and I'm not too sure if he intends to take his support forum somewhere else. I was planning on posting something once I knew what was going on. I think you can get support via his site.

He won't be coming back here, at least not with his support forum -- he went well beyond his role of moderator by deleting all the posts in his sub-forum.

What?!

So we just randomly lost Mike and Ian?
Explanation, because that's just weird.

In all due respect for Mike and Ian with their combined skills is much appreciated, BUT going as far as deleting user based support Q&A's with no referral or explanation is about as equal to flipping us the bird........ NOT Cool guys.

Are there answers, of course there are, will we be told.. very much doubt it.

Didn't realize that there was that much animosity between people here.
Everyone on this website seems to be genuinely nice and helpful, but apparently the world behind the scenes is quite different.
It's a bit disconcerting.

Sorry guys my withdrawal of my own sub announcements forum will be replaced on my own site where i can better handle things in future ,support has always been at fs-creations.org and will continue this way ,yes this is over a disagreement and a breach of forum posting but was also a move to better support for future creations from my site .
sorry to those who feel this is a finger ,all i feel ive done is move my announcements to my own site which is in my best interest

I look at it the other way -- there is a lot less animosity here than you'd think. Actually It's been about a year since we had a major blow-up. This is much better than most forums, and even better than NZFF in the past. One of the main reasons is that these days we are more inclined to let things go, let members have differences of opinion if they wish, and only really moderate when we get a complaint. But if someone does report an obvious breach of forum rules, then we do fix it.

It is tricky to get everyone to understand that arguments and squabbles are fine until someone takes it too far with personal abuse or attacks. Then everyone tends to wade in, and things can go from normal lively discussion to completely offensive in a very short time. The real trouble starts when members take offence at being moderated. The most recent flare-up was a perfect example of this, one side of the argument took offence at our over-zealous moderation, and the other took offence at our lack of moderation. Both sides made assumptions which were completely wrong.

Contrary to popular belief, the forum admin never 'win', but if NZFF continues as normal, we consider that a good result.

What a shame, we lost a couple of main players.

I hope there's someone there to look after Ian while he goes cold turkey.

I'm sure that Ian will be back, we could all do with a break at times, and Ian deserves it more than most.
