Sooo......

What's in the process of being created lately for FSX New Zealand?

I know that we have Auckland being worked on, Nelson is all but done, I think Masterton was at one point being produced (don't know if that's still happening), Opotiki is coming along......what else?

Once Nelson is finished, although I really need to get stuck into another payware project to stay afloat, I do want to spend a bit of time on the freeware NZCH, plus a couple of smaller things need to be tidied up.

Currently under construction for FSX, and in various stages of completion from me are..........

NZWO Wairoa Airport ( 95% complete)

NZRC Ryans Creek Airfield(Stewart Island) ( 95% complete)

NZPM Palmerston North Airport ( about 40% done)

For the Pacific Islands...........

NSFA Faleolo Intl (Samoa), with bonus NSFI Fagali Airport ( 95% Complete)

NCRG Rarotonga Intl (Cook Islands) , ( 95% Complete)

NFNA Nausori Intl (Fiji Islands) , (about 25% done)

There are a few other NZ airports in various stages of completion, including NZDN Dunedin Intl, but im not sure when i'll get around to finishing them as yet.
There were a few i was working on, but have ditched them as others are doing them. No point in double ups.

My simple sceneries will always remain "freebies". Works from the likes of Mike and Robin are much more deserving of payment than mine, due to the efforts (and costs) they go to to obtain things like aerial images for photoreal ground etc.
After many years of taking freeware scenery for my various sims over the years, im just happy to contribute whatever i can back into the FS Community.

I am amazed, and eternally grateful for the amount of quality NZ scenery there is out there, payware and freeware. thumbup1.gif

What amazes me the most I think is the amount of time that is put in by what seems like normal kiwi folk, big thanks for that!

I'm actually starting to get boggled by what is out there, which brings me to a couple of questions. Is there a data base, (besides the websites you guys have of course,) that lists different NZ scenery?? And how does one know whether or not it is compatable with VLC?

This is a link to the FSX scenery , constantly updated .

http://www.freewarescenery.com/fsx/newzealand.html

Further if you explore this site it covers all the worlds freeware scenery for FSX and earlier FS9

Yeah thats a beaut site Ian, first port of call for me usually when venturing overseas for some flying.
If anyone is interested in an AirNZ/commercial list of airfields then check out this page we have at vANZ, lists freeware and commercial stuff:

Why not make Christchurch payware, I'd buy it.

I would love an interactive scenery map which would show addon scenery as shaded areas as well as have the airports etc. I've seen the standalone NZ scenery maps people have created but it would be great if one could be generated from FSX's scenery library itself. Does anyone know if there's a way to do this? Google Earth layer? Plan-G? I've just started using Plan-G which is brilliant and shows all the custom airports but I haven't found any way to indicate whether the ground scenery is non-default or not.

I'd also like to say a massive thank you to all the hard working and talented NZ scenery designers for their contributions. I've been involved in NZ simming for almost a decade and have never found the experience more satisfying or fun than it is now. VLC is a massive step forward and a world-class product, while the breathtaking scenery and airports from Rob, Mike, Ian, Lawrie and others add so much. I only get to visit NZ for a month each year but spend the other eleven flying in virtual NZ which really helps the time pass between my trips! For a long time FSX was very much the poor cousin to FS9 and you were confined to a few exceptionally well done areas (Real NZ etc) if you didn't want to spend hours flying over desert, but now FSX has finally come of age. I migrated with the release of VLC and continue to be amazed every time I fly. There are still a few notable areas and airports absent (for which I wheel out my old faithful FS9) but it's now pretty much as close as it could possibly be to the real thing. I've even been able to check out areas I'd like to visit in the real world in advance in FSX which has really helped with planning my trips! I've also just started flying the entire country (Kaitaia to Invercargill) in a NAC de Havilland 89a Dragon Rapide using Plan-G which is probably the best single endeavour I've ever done in the sim.

Cheers, guys!

Ade

I have been out of the loop for a couple of months while backpacking in Europe; but yet again WOW! Great to see NZ simming is as alive as it has ever been. Excellent jobs with the current projects, looking forward to getting my hands on some when I arrive back in NZ in about a months time.
