I remember seeing some scenery and posts a while ago regarding inter island AI ferrys from Wellington to Piction for fs2004.

Are they still available anywhere?

Hey Trolly

The file's name is "Cook Strait shipping NZ.zip" but I can't seem to find it on either FlightSim or Avsim.com

It's 1.419mb if you want it e-mailed.

Howdy,

Available from the NZScenery Design Group (http://www.nzscenery.com/).

Watch it though, this was originally designed for the default NZ scenery (and NZ150m Mesh). As such, the ferry path cuts right through Point Halswell. You will need to open the AFCAD and re-route the ferry's track around the Point.

I remember the discussion, and there was much excitement about new ferry models etc
Whatever happened?
BTW I fixed the original AFCAD at some point, but read somewhere they were the cause of CTD because of the long taxi route or somesuch.

Howdy,

No, the issue is not the taxiway length (theoretically, AI Ships could sail around the world) but rather the taxiway width and construction. By changing it to "0" feet and "Concrete" there should be no problems.

Mind you, the contact points will give off sparks and this was another thing missing from the package -- the AI .fx files. Download Holger Sandman's AI Ship Starter Pack (the updated version) to install these.

The one ship I'm having problems with is the "Arahura" (it has a case of the worst St. Vitas Dance I've ever seen); the contact points are all up the buhoi. It's a 2001 model by Frank Petriccione, re-textured by Deane Beaunton; pity the original .cfg file was not included so I could compare the contact points. Personally, I'm running Hama's "Seikan" (Base Texture version) in place of the "Arahura" (which is in dry-dock until I can sort out the contact point problems). Both of Hama's vessels don't have any problems.

Then, of course, there's the "Kaitaki" ...

I kinda miss having the ships around - do the various bits preclude you making up a nice package and uploading somewhere?

Howdy,

where do you find Holger Sandman's AI Ship Starter Pack?

ai_ships.zip, by Holger Sandmann, available at AvSim, FS Shipyards, and Flightsim.com. As noted, there is an updated file to obtain as well: ai_shipx.zip
