I purchased the download version of Earth Simulations Guernsey a couple of days ago (GBP 22.49 or about $44NZ). Took a long time to download the 4.4 GB of data, but once I had installed it, the fun and games started sad.gif FSX loaded as normal, but as soon as I tried a flight, then I got a fatal error. After a couple of tries, FSX would not even load before the dreaded fatal error message came up.

I got a fast reply from Earth Simulations with some autogen files to try but I am currently trying a full repair of the download before installing the new autogen files. From reading their forum, it seems that quite a few people are having problems with this new scenery, with several reporting that FSX no longer works after Guernsey has been installed.

So if anyone else is thinking about buying this scenery, perhaps it is a good idea to wait a bit until the installation problems are sorted out. I really hope that it does not mean a full re-install of FSX.

If I do get it to work then I will post a couple of screenshots, but for now, I have to resolve the CTD.

Smooth landings (Guernsey or otherwise)

Update on the Guernsey scenery. By accident I saw that John Venema on the Orbx forum had written that FTX Central MUST be set back to default FSX before installing EA sceneries. This is to do with the different sceneries overwriting the autogen in FSX. So I rolled back the computer using a restore point (those are useful!!!) and FSX is working again. Seems to be ok. Next step, after putting the FTX Central to default FSX, is to try another install of Guernsey.

Just another FSX problem!!

screenshots to follow once Guernsey is installed and working,

smooth landings.
