Picton

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Kelburn » Sun Nov 26, 2006 3:09 pm

I have the Malbourough Scenery from ARNZ by Deane Baunton installed on FS and have recently installed the Red Baron 75m mesh. I've found that Picton is place rather randomly on a kind of hill and all the scenery sinks down the hill (e.g. the macros) but the polygon just remains there. I've tried changing the scnery priority but that doesn't work. Does anyone know how to fix all this?

Flatten Switches for Deanes Marlborough Scenery, for Picton, Omaka, and Woodbourne to fit in the 20m Mesh...................................

Flatten.0=139.7,S41 20,E173 57,S41 22,E173 57,S41 22,E173 58,S41 20,E173 58
Flatten.1=109,S41 30.07,E173 53.12,S41 31.86,E173 53.10,S41 31.80,E173 49.96,S41 29.75,E173 49.99
Flatten.2=100,S41 31.77,E173 55.89,S41 32.80,E173 55.89,S41 32.89,E173 54.14,S41 31.70,E173 54.14

In the main FS-9 folder, open the file called "scenery.cfg" with notepad and copy and paste the 3 above lines of text to the bottom of the Marlborough scenery's entry , and save. Here's the entry from my scenery.cfg file for Marlborough so that you know what it should look like when finished.........................

[Area.039]
Title=Woodbourne 2 Airport NZWB
Local=Addon Scenery\Woodbourne 2 Airport NZWB
Remote=
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=76
Flatten.0=139.7,S41 20,E173 57,S41 22,E173 57,S41 22,E173 58,S41 20,E173 58
Flatten.1=109,S41 30.07,E173 53.12,S41 31.86,E173 53.10,S41 31.80,E173 49.96,S41 29.75,E173 49.99
Flatten.2=100,S41 31.77,E173 55.89,S41 32.80,E173 55.89,S41 32.89,E173 54.14,S41 31.70,E173 54.14

The flattens seem to work for both the 20m and the 75m mesh, as they are the same flattens i used when i used to have 75m mesh before purchasing 20m mesh.

Should work ok. Seems to have worked fine for several dozen others that i have given the flattens to. Cures the aircraft dipping down below ground level in front of the terminal at Woodbourne, and also buried buildings, and dissapearing aircraft at Omaka as well. Deanes scenery was originally built for FS2000, not FS2004 with 20m mesh as well.

Happy it worked for you Kelburn. Deane's scenery is a nice one,even though it is getting quite old now. Be on the lookout for Robin's RealNZ Marlborough sometime in the next couple of months.............
