FSX comes with many 3D models that are used to make the default scenery- These models are available to be placed in other locations around the world by using the 'Object Placer Tool' avaliable with the SDK (Youll need to have the Deluxe version of FSX)

Using default library objects is a great way of updating the default scenery to something more realistic: It doesnt require too much work and the resultant files are very small which makes sharing them easy.

A catalog of all the FSX library objects can be found here http://lc0277.nerim.net/sceneobjects/

Cheers

Hi to All,

can anyone shed light on changing grass runways to bitumen or tarmac in FSX, having only just got my object placement tool active cant seem to find any info about it

Object placement tool is for placing objects and mission editing ,AFCAD tools are what you are wanting for ground work like the above link posted ,all you will need to do is open the AFCAD file with ADE and click the runway and then properties and select concrete grass tarmac ,height angle direction and excludes are normal done with ADE tools ..

Warning!

When you get ADE sorted, it becomes strangely addictive! biggrin.gif

Have you downloaded the ADE manual? It's a lot of reading, but worthwhile.
From the manual:
7.1.11 Compile Airport
This option compiles the ADE9X Airport Project to a .bgl file. Compiling an ADE9X airport is
a separate activity from Saving (unlike AFCAD or AFX). ADE9X will provide a name for the
.bgl file that you can change if you wish.

Did you copy the compiled BGL file into FSX / Addon Scenery / Scenery folder?

Hi Nzeddy,
Found it. I for some reason not known to me there was another FSX scenery folder in the system and it went into there, I dumped all my addon scenery and reloaded from the default and slowly rebuilt it and now have satisfactory airport. i also downloaded a gauge repair program as i download some older program aircraft with no longer supported gauges and effects and it co incidentally fixed my problem of excessive black dust and dirt effect when taxing.
thanks for your assistance.

Hi to all,
can anyone point me to the chap in the manual ADEX to remove unwanted vegetation from my airport, i have added taxiways etc and still have small bushes and trees in some cases through the taxiway and would like to remove them, any assistance please.

Tommy
