I have been using FSX since I started simming, but since looking at discussions on nzff, decided to give FS 2004 a go.FSX has a degree of 'somthing'that gives it a realistic edge.but for one reason or another with FSX,my computer can only manage 'abstract terrain'i.e no buildings etc.
When I fired up FS2004,I was amazed at the smoothness, and also that I can now get really get quite realistic looking buildings and terminals.
Whats the punch line Pete?I hear you ask.Well, last night I downloaded a Christchurch airport addon by a guy called"thatch"and when I tried it out this morning I couldnt believe it.It was amazing!Unfortuanetely my 'sim obsession'has kicked in big time now and I want every airport in New Zealand,on my game yesterday!!.
Question dear simmers and friends-How do I get a complete or complete set of N.Z airports in FS2004?
Do I need to go with one "creator' of airport add ons? and What is this photo real thing about?.
It looks as though some of the airport scenery files talk about compatibility with"photoreal New Zealand' while some dont mention it.
End result.Confusion(as per usual!!).Help!!
One day when I get a little bit more clued up,I promise to hand on the assistance to someone else.
Kind regards from Pete1800ft min.

Hi Pete
I've shifted your post to the Scenery sub-forum, as this is a great place to start. If you look at the pinned threads at the top of the forum, you'll find separate lists of freeware and payware scenery addons for NZ.
Another great source for FS2004 is The NZ Retro AI Project and Airport Sceneries sub-forum here on NZFF.

I think by 'photoreal New Zealand' you are talking about 'Real New Zealand', which is the 'brand' of payware scenery which I produce. Some developers release airports airports designed to fit in with this scenery, and others design for the default sim.

I do have a few freeware photo sceneries available on my site, and at the moment you can purchase all my FS2004 scenery for $59.

Hi there Robin.
Thankyou for responding to my questions.I am much clearer now on that.I have discovered the freeware subforum, and I now have Nelson,Christchurch,Wlg,and Akl airports. Some seem to install so easily, but others which I have left seem to require all these other filesi.e'static objects,ez librarys?etc etc.If I purchase your $59 FS2004 set, will that sit alongside my previously installed airports?.If not, could you let me know where I could find the airports to work with your product(if they are not already in the package).Just one other question, does the photoreal scenery cover all of N.Z?.I have been getting alot of free add ons recently,so I feel its time to put my hand in my pocket, and buy somthing.
Pete.P.S Do you accept bank deposits?

For airports inside the Real NZ coverage (see below) you really need to look for Real NZ compatibility. Some are designed for the default sim, and may or may not work with Real NZ. I know it's a bit of a mission to figure out what does what, but I'd recommend having a careful read of any details which come with the various freeware sceneries, normally they would include a 'readme' file explaining what they include.

Real NZ scenery included in the FS2004 Collection:

# Real New Zealand Auckland City
# Real New Zealand Tauranga and Rotorua
# Real New Zealand Wanaka and Tekapo
# Real New Zealand Wellington City and Airport
# Real New Zealand Marlborough

The Godzone Store accepts bank deposits -- just follow the link in my earlier post.

Take it from me the $59 you'll spend for Robins Real NZ scenery is worth every cent if not more! As far as quality and realism they can't be beat!

And definitely add all of Snowmans sceneries, he's done airports over the whole country. Goff has done a few too which are well worth adding, you'll find those on Snowmans site. We really are lucky we have so many great developers who have and still do take the time to produce scenery for NZ nationwide!

Second that!
Although it was EUROs in my case...

I don't have much payware sceneries on my HD (Holger Sandmann's Misty Fjords and Tongass Fjords to name two), as there's a lot of awesome freeware stuff available (just take a deeper look to snowman's site).
But when it comes down to payware sceneries, "RealNZ" is top notch!

Cheers from just another satisfied customer,
Markus.
