IS all the photoreal scenery available for NZ still of a low resolution? I'd love to see NZ how it really is, but it sucks when everything looks really blurry below 3000ft sad.gif I take it that most arield photo's of such high resolution are copyright?

All NZ aerials are copyright, including the low-res stuff. High res aerials are always available for purchase, but nobody's giving them away. Normally around $100 per sq km.

I guess the only option is Tileproxy. This streams online aerials directly into FS2004 or FSX. Tricky to set up, and the quality is limited to what is available online. Just search the forum here for tileproxy for some info and links.

There are some areas that are high resolution (under, say 1m GSD) avaliable- Whale Island and the areas around some of Robins airports (both payware RealNZ and freeware Godzone)

But yes, generally, aerials that are available at prices and conditions that are realistic for simmers are generally older aerials. Older aerials were usually scanned at a resolution that made the digital copies able to be stored and distributed on the computers of the day (i.e. fairly low).....A gigabyte was a huge amount of data ten years ago!
