I found a great file on flightsim.com that will make your defualt taxiway textures look a lot better.

File name: taxiwy2.zip (flightsim.com ;) )

All you have to do is replace the old 42.7kb bitmap with the new 1mb one:blink: :P

Looks good jimmy, there are lots of different ones available. The problem with textures like yours though is that the cracks end up being very repetitive.

Replace a 42kb bmp with a 1 meg one? I hate to think how often that bmp needs to be repeated to draw all the taxiways, and wonder how it affects system performance....

Have you noticed any slow-downs, Jimmy?

Does it effect performance in any way?

at first I was very reluctant thinking about load times (as it already takes half a mintue to load textures sometimes) but I after I backedup the old one I gave it try , and I havent noticed much differance, not that youd aculty be able to tell with the way my fs performs  I recomend trying it, it shouldn't be to much work for your pc as its only the one image to load not 5000 differant ones!

Try getting in spot view, and then spinning your view around. You'll probably see a stutter whenever you need to load an airport. Nice to look at for the five minutes you are at the airport anyway :D

yeah well that happens anyway. If im sitting on the ground (or in the air) at wigram for example when I look over towards nzch (I have Heaths photoreal one) my fps drop in half, its such a pain when IM flying a straight in app too. taxiway textures or not. I think once I have more RAM and a better grf card itll stop happening...I hope.

ill see how it gos for a week then switch back to compare B)
