"they are better value than Orbx airports - $25 Aussies only gets you a very small farm strip (mind you very detailed"

Correction: All OZ farm strips and other small strips are done by OZX and are FREEWARE. ORBX Has done Aus landclass etc. in four parts at $39 each. They have also done a few major airfields as payware. The mesh is free, not $100 as it is somewhere else

If you reread my post which you have quoted I was referring to ORBX airports (specifically those in PNW which I have and familar with i.e Israels Farm and a new one about to be released this month) not OZX which I realise are freeware. ORBX's Israels Farm for PNW is not a major airport, not by a long shot - its a small farm strip with scenery enhancement around it. I wouldnt even call ORBX Concrete Airport a major airport. There is no doubt Concrete and Israel's farm are very nice but I dont think I would buy any more of their small farm strips (I find $25 a lot for small strip) but I would consider getting Darrington and Orcas (when its released) as they offer a bit more for the money I feel.

As for ORBX airports for Australia I would not have a clue as I dont have them.

As I understand it the mesh will be free with VLC as well (correct me if I am wrong Robin, Tim).

I just like the idea that they will fit in with whatever product you buy ,the airport objects will work just the same in VLC as with FTX even though they are designed to fit in with orbx they just sit on the top of ether of them no way around it if they are freeware ,just like my photoreal sits over the top of both no problem ..
just more objects more airports and more ppls flying them whatever the choice you make it will be a good one for you the user /flyer

i can only imagine anyway ill strip these airports down to perform as i cant really see my system handling cow dungs all over the place or the grass etcs

there is to many up sides to them doing work to enhance NZ, like using the new ground textures they build with VLC data ,wonder how that will work ,i have seen it done already in other ftx scenerys ie PNW ,some dude re land classed the rest of Canada all you need is pnw to make it work "cool ". i can see all this work being very handy

One big upside with ORBX/OZX for NZ is that we are likely to see more repaints of NZ Aircraft (as there has been for Australia) and other enhancements.

I don't know if anyone is aware that ORBX has started on NZ. They are at present working on the south island and expect to release it about Xmas. It is being done from high density photos. The included mesh will be very high defination. The early beta shots I have seen are mind blowing. I don't know what the price will be, but I expect it will be under $50 NZ. It is certainly going to be far better than anything seen yet.

Orbx has practicly finished Australia and is currently working on the West Coast of usa. And it's selling like wildfire.
OZX, that I am associated with, uses the Orbx landclass to put in the smaller airfields and the bush strips. All OZX work is freeware and we have done over 300 so far. Some samples are shown below.
ORBX in the main is payware, though is is extremely low priced.

Anyone interested is welcome to visit the orbx or OZX home pages.

Just to clarify a couple of things, Jack...
Do you have a link for the 'about Xmas' release? I was under the impression that they couldn't START this until the end of this year.
Do you have a link for the beta shots you mentioned?

Does that mean that OZX will be doing New Zealand airports?
And yes, VLC includes the mesh, all up, for NZ$65.

Those are Alpha shots not Beta, most here have seen them and there is a link to that thread on NZFF some weeks back....I haven't seen anywhere on the ORBX forums that ORBX South Island (not "Southland" as ORBX wrongly state) will be released before Christmas..can you link exactly where it says that?

I heard over 1000 airports for NZ South Island, though they have only made 300 for OZ from whats said above in the last many years, they have been out doing this sort of thing since VOZ, a great effort but no where near 1000 odd said for nz if there is only 300 they have complete for OZ i some how find it weird them doing ours before the rest of theres ,maybe its a lack of airports to do or that over advertising again ..

I can also confirm ive heard it wont be long away ,that means we dont have long to talk about it before all this is just more scenery to add to the library manager and lots more screenshots if they can supply what they say they can .

Looks like ORBX's CEO dosen't know what the difference between the southland and the south island is, "The huge task of enhancing some of the 1135 airstrips and airports for Southland" Im sure there aren't that many strips just in the southland province, john probably dosent even no that it is a province, "you say 1135 strips/airports for Southland.

I very much doubt Southland has 1135 strips/airports ..presumably you mean South Island."

I even had it comfirmed with wikipedia, More than 100 in the whole of New Zealand, not 1135 just in the "Southland".

Saski, you do not help matters, and in my view not very helpful or forward thinking. I think I say what many others think when I ask you not to put yourself out there as in any way representing or being a part of the NZ FS scene or NZFF.

Sure is a little funny watching this go down all day ,maybe it was the game AB /wally last night that set it all off again or they are truly are interested in what we want here in NZ and have come to do promoting before the big release, i think that is the case and is harmless .

I do not really feel like what it seems i feel like when i post, I might be acting like i represent NZFF but just because im first to put my thoughts in, it does not mean i am trying to "Represent" NZFF.
There is no rule on NZFF saying you cant be first to post in VLC related things or stuff like that. But i agree with you.
I think i'll just forget about NZFF and Flightsimming.

No need to forget NZFF or Flightsimming Saski, just take on board what others are recommending.

Flightsimming, unlike other 'gaming' groups, has always been more of a community. Opinions are fine to be expressed but must be done in a way that is respectful. If not, then we run the risk of turning people off due to perceived conflict.

So feel free to stay, but post in a way that respects others.

Cheers

Well said Tim people need to think before they jump there could be a big hole with a lot people sitting where you are going to land and you just might hurt someone.

Stop being so PC, if he wants to leave let him.. As a 10 year old (?) with his own website he's probably got enough to keep him going without him winding people up here.
