NZQN Queenstown

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby bobby48w » Fri Sep 13, 2013 2:59 am

I see Orbx have just released NZQN for FSX. For those of us who are running VLC is there a NZQN add on available and if not has any of our talented NZ developers got plans to do one??

Twas one in the works but was folded up and put away and went on to other project , again it was designed around the Orbx product , but be no reason why the airport could be built to suit VLC ... we do have a member who lives down that way , maybe Ian would want a go at building an airport .

AirDailyX are meant to be live-streaming their look at NZQN at the moment, hopefully it'll work, but not much luck at the moment...

Hi guys I have been waiting for this moment for a very long time and I can't wait until I can purchase this and explore Queenstown fully so far I have been making do with the default orbx south island and milford sound pack and I noticed a big difference with landmarks I know of being very clear and easy to find . I guess I will be lost somewhere in the virtual Queenstown region once I purchase this

Is anyone else getting BN2A's and C152's parked at the terminal gates reserved for turboprop/jet aircraft with FTX NZQN?

Yeah, are you using FTX AI?
I think they're bring an update out soon.

It's because they've made ZQN 2 airports, NZQN and NZQX(?) so the commercial plane don't use the smaller runway I think.

You can either turn off GA for now, or do a find replace for GA if you know how to use TTools.

Yeah NZQZ- not ideal.

I'm running FTX AI for the commerical jets, and Charl's GNZLAP ported to FSX for the GA stuff. Wonder if someone clever here can just fix up an AFCAD that would see the Milford Islander's park outside thier hangers leaving the terminal for ANZ, QF and JQ?

Does Orbx' Queenstown work in any capacity with VLC? I know it's meant for their South Island product, but I'm a VLC user, so...

I guess it would glue into VLC , I do have that and replaced with ORBX and i'm guess the elevations would match due the area being so complex. I guess i could reinstall the scenery and do some compare shots for you , tho think the ORBX Queenie may have a few texture issues with it and guessing will be patched later .

Hi Ian.
It's been a while since you posted the above, and as I also am running VLC, I would love to know if you ever got round to trying Orbx NZQN with VLC ?
I have got so much addon scenery for VLC that I am rather reluctant to install Orbx S.I. but would like to purchase their NZQN if it is compatible with VLC.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have tried this with it before and noticed 2 things. 1. On approach to 23 there is mesh issues at the back of the airport and when you take off from 23 when you get out over the lake inlet the water will suddenly rise about 50 feet (Like a tsunami). I would suspect this is ORBX using their own elevations for ZQN to fit it into their scenery. Apart from that the airport will function

I'm , I really want to have my own quick fix for everyone to cancel out the reluctance , to me current its a nightmare, we all have these different addons and depending on peoples system and setups many are having conflicts and it all comes down to Elevations.

Thank you omitchell and ian for your prompt replies to my query, thumbup1.gif it sure sounds as if FTX NZQN has some problems. (S'pose they don't want to make it compatible with VLC....Pity) sad.gif Would be great if you come up with the answer Ian, I will keep an eye on the forums in the hope of a fix. drool.gif
Happy simming.
