New Plymouth Airport Scenery Released (FSX)

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Riddlez » Wed Jul 31, 2013 7:24 pm

Hi Every.
My New Plymouth Scenery for FSX is read for download at Avsim and soon on flightsim.com.
http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=178576

This Scenery is only designed for Flight Simulator X (FSX) and is a custom, highly accurate version of New Plymouth Airport. Containing 33 Custom buildings, Ground Polygons, Fully modeled Terminal interior, photo-real airport ground background, custom AFCAD and more. Works with ORBX NZNI and VLC.

-If you find the scenery terrain under the airport is not flat. Make sure in your "Scenery Library" options, that the folder you have scenery in has the highest priority.

A special thanks goes to a few people that have helped me out in this project;

Andy (Trolly)
Cheers for all the reference photos you took of the airport and he cool GoPro shots of the airport from above.

Bob (bobby48w)
Thanks for taking photos of the Koru lounge at New Plymouth airport.

Mike (Creator2003)
Cheers for help, and sending me all your Reference photos of New Plymouth Airport.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask (:

Cheers
Che (Riddlez)

You beauty....great timing. Was thinking about this last night and wondering when it was to be released as I'm currently reinstalling everything on my new PC. Installed already (first add on scenery apart from Orbx). Looks great!
Had to disable some a Orbx bgl so no double up but otherwise all good

Simply outstanding. Payware quality. May I ask what modelling program you used?
Remember the 50-50-90 rule. Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong!

Thanks mate. Been working on and off for 11 years. I either get interrupted or a new FS comes out and I have to start again.

Cheers! I use 3Ds Max with FSX SDK installed with it to model all my buildings and objects. I use it even to build the ground polygons too.

FABULOUS stuff Che. Just d/loaded it and installed, playing about now in a chopper to have a good look around, excellent work dude.

Note to others: as mentioned in Che's README you need to make sure this has higher priority than NZNI Orbx in particular, use the Orbx control panel thing to set the insert point for Orbx stuff below you other custom NZ scenery like this one from Che

managed to overcome the elevation issue by leaving the orbx cvx file and disabling the one in this scenery. a minor downside a little section of road in front of the womad sign gets a diff color and bit of ground on it but hey i can put up with that.

all up the scenery is sensational. thank you so much for it thumbup1.gif

Wow, superb package. Well done! So far no issues noticed with Orbx NZNI.

What a labour of love, keep it up. The next one will be quicker wink.gif

Thanks guys for all the nice feed back. I assume its working on all your systems ok?

Also I added a cliff at the where the land meets the sea, by the airport as there is one there in real life thats about 100ft high.

There's a great review over atAirDailyX -- brilliant job, Che, some mouth-watering detail there.
The ground polys are the best I've ever seen on a local scenery.
