Freeware NZCH project?

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

I'm interested, I'm usually at the airport Monday - Friday (at the Canterbury Aero Club) so I can some pictures if need be. I aren't that well experienced with 3D modeling but I have made some basic stuff before and would be willing to help out.

Ditto

I have some modelling experience - I started modelling the Cessna 441 that lives at Christchurch for the New Zealand Flying Doctor Service but I lost interest in the end so it was never completed. Plus, I have experience in textures and things although no good quality pictures of the airport.

Would this scenery represent the new terminal?

The file that contains the information about the runways, taxiways, parking, approaches etc. These are generated in a program such as ADE smile.gif

I did a afcad file revamp for myself, it makes the gates en up in the right place, the Woai aircraft park in the right orientation etc. smile.gif

Sounds good. You sound like a good resource to have:)

Good question. If this was my project, I'd say no, as I only model what I can see. However if someone wanted to do this, it could be included.

My rather glib comment really referred to someone whose AFCAD skills fall into the 'expert' category. They need to be able to make AI sing and dance, but also work with the finished photo scenery -- which will define a lot of the facilities photographically. It's early days yet, as it wouldn't be worth starting until the photo textures are laid down.

CODE NAME: THE WEST MELTON TAVERN PROJECT
In general terms, this is how I would imagine it worked as far as contributions etc are concerned. I have been assuming most would have experience, but there are a number of things which people can look at. If there is something which you are particularly interested in, then think about how it might be integrated. For instance, if you have a photo collection of every car in existence, you might want to build a beautiful vehicle library. If you are interested in bus timetables, you might want to figure out how to get an actual bus timetable implemented, or supply a collection of anorak-wearing people:)
What about AI? Local paints? Animated support vehicles? People? Trees? Plants? Missions? A working Hagglund?

If you plan to help, you should have started by now. The project is underway, it has a name (The West Melton Tavern Project), don't get left behind...

I was going to but then the earthquake happened, which meant there was a lot of more important things to do. I'll get some screens up soon!

There were really two parts to this project -- one was making a start, the other was a dozen people volunteering to do some of the work. That didn't happen, so the project didn't happen.
