New sceneries

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Hi guys,

I couldn't find any recent topics mentioning these, so I thought I would share the info: you'll find 2 new NZ sceneries on flightsim.com:

FSX Scenery--New Zealand 20m Mesh
Name: newzealand20m.zip Size: 227,406,022 Date: 11-03-2010
FSX Scenery--New Zealand 20m Mesh. This new 20m mesh covers both the North and South Island of New Zealand. By Patrick Ewin.

and

FSX Scenery--Photoreal Auckland Central New Zealand
Name: fsx-auckland.zip Size: 67,525,419 Date: 11-03-2010
FSX Scenery--Photoreal Auckland Central New Zealand. Auckland Central photoreal covers about 1450 sq km which takes in Auckland International Airport (NZAA). This is the first part of what will be "Auckland Central, Auckland North and Auckland South" giving a coverage of over 4500 sq km of photoreal scenery and will come with autogen. By Peter Walker.

I'm just wondering if I could put that 20m mesh "under" VLC... Would it cause elevation problems with any RealNZ sceneries (and/or other freeware stuff)?

What's your thought on this?

Dan

Hi ya Daniel , good for the people who cant afford and don,t have mesh or Auckland , be interesting to see the autogen and wonder the time it will take and how good its going to look , doing it properly takes a long time .

This is were VLC comes in and levels the playing and has a superb and extremely accurate land class with landmarks to help .

I'm a "casual" FSX user, so idly install freeware that drifts by.
Ain't 'arf bad, this.
Auckland autogen is a job well done.
Be interesting to see what the remaining 2 Akl packages do.

VLC includes a 20 metre mesh, so it wouldn't make sense to use this instead. However if you don't have VLC, then it should make a real difference to most photoscenery areas.
