How do you create scenery for Microsoft's Flight Simulator and what software do you use?

For AFCAD's, there is a program for FS9 you can create them with. For actual scenery you use the FS SDK or something?

first you would need the sdks for fs9 and you would also need gmax from turbosquid.com , there are acouple of postings through out here aswell on places to search for info on making objects etc .. at http://www.fsdeveloper.com/scenery/
but there are many places for info and posting questions ..
have a search for rwy12 object placer on avsim or flightsim.com ,this has libararys of objects that you can place and get a feel for it all before putting yourself into years of learning ..
good luck

http://www.fssc.avsim.net/

there you go. It's freeware and it makes airport scenery (no 3D mode only top down but I think thats the same with all scenery designers) go to Scenery Hall Of Fame for a tutorial for it. Although you'll need something to make .api's with e.g. GMAX (i use Easy Object Designer available from flightsim.com)

cheers for that ill have a look at it ,,most scenery designers these days well in fs2004 anyway use ez scenery object placer ,this is infact a 3d realtime object placer ,you canview your placed object in the way you see it as your flying ,this is one of the best out there for that job and are hundreds of object librarys from other designers that you can download and place simple ,,the one i started with was rwy12 ,it is very much along the lines of ez scenery but you cant see the object as you place it but it done in a 3d world
anyway cheers mike
