XML Airport information

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

I was just wondering if anyone had written a replacement/new xml file for a airport?
Whakatane airport is in the wrong place so ill need to write a new file for...well everything. If someone has it would be great if i could get a copy- that would mean id just replace the coordinates and relevant info to make Whakatane.

Cheers

Hi Tim

The magnetic variation doesn't do anything (except show in the map view).

You need to use the real orientation in the xml. When I created my first xmls I made the mistake getting the angle straight from the GIS. Of course this doesn't work as you need to calculate the angle using great circle mathematics. Maybe you have a similar problem?

hmm....Ok wierd
The SDK docs dont mention that at all....do you know of a online convertor/calulator?
When sitting on the runway, the compass shows its about 20 degrees out (hence why i assumed it was the variation problem)

I use this one. Simply get the 2 opposing runway ends in lat/long and calculate the angle. This will give you real orientation.
