Random thought: if this is happening at multiple venues, run a texture duplicate check and strip out all those textures with the same names fighting for your CPU's attention.

Did you try my previous suggestion to disable the aerial textures? This would show whether it was these textures which are causing the problem.

Perhaps try temporarily disabling the airport files and just leave the photoreal textures in- see if that makes a difference?

Yes, I did - "So, with the .bgl files" (to which you referred), "removed I had moderate success" and although this would point to the cause of the crashing (given that I can fly in a less demanding Cessna), what could be causing the Actigate system not to work?

Really? IRL its 1936m long (http://www.aip.net.nz/pdf/NZWN_51.1_51.2.pdf), which is about 6350ft. So, 1936-375=1561(m), so thats about 5100ft. I am sure the runway at Wellington is over 6000ft long....

Think the tiger moth factory would look ok with a few 737s, 747s, 767s parked out front, disgorging passengers in to the obviously first class trminal buildings of the era

Full operational length for NZWN is 1936m. The runway is only temporarily shortened to 1561m during nights where work is on. This is only done by sandbagging the flush lights and placing cans over the raised runway edge lights and the runway end lights. Temporary threshold and runway end lights are set up during these nights. Generally only one or two aircraft use the runway at its reduced length as the airport is closed to any flights bar the emergencys and the Vincent Cessna 402 that operates every night. So really unless you want to operate out of the airport at night, the length should be the same as always. BTW if anyone wants photos of the WIAL vehicles to replace those Avsec ones that are parked by the fire station, let me know.
