Robin Corn's Wanaka

An area to discuss scenery addons for virtual NZ

Postby Charl » Sun Jun 18, 2006 10:31 am

Those waiting for the postman to deliver the new Wanaka scenery might want to have a look at putting some "Show" in the Airshow.
I"ve uploaded a couple of files to Flightsim.com.
The first is an AI package which requires a bit of effort to install but produces some buzz at the airport. The second is a quick video of what you might expect to see. Quickest way to get them is a file search on "charl".

Great screenie Charl!

Is that PIONAIR repaint available for the default DC-3? If it is, please post a link to it!

Everything you need is in the uploaded package wan01.zip
Because of copyright issues I couldn't inlude the planes themselves, (except for the custom Wanaka Wheels tug you see in the screenshot above).
But all the file names and download sites are in there.
The readme is headed: "This package is not for sissies" and will take a while to download and assemble. But have a look at the video file wanai.zip and I think you may be tempted.

Any case, it gives you something to do while you wait for your scenery order to arrive!

Thanks for recommending my Airtrainer and Kingair repaints Scott.

I also have a few Kiwi Cessna repaints out there - could be used to help fill up the visiting aircraft park and add a bit of GA activity to the area. Just search under 'Jenks' on avsim and you will find a few. You will need to own the HTAI Cessna package for most of them though.

I have around 40 Kiwi Cessna repaints with many more on the way - not all uploaded yet though.

Noticed it's been a while since you uploaded any Steve. Thanks again for your work, I hope we get a few Piper paints when HT releases that package too ;)

Yes, it has been quite a while since I uploaded any of my repaints.

I got fed up with the people that frequent the HTAI forums moaning about my not supplying flightplans and afcads with each of my repaints - apparently they consider the repaints worthless without them. Go figure?!

As a result I have been keeping the repaints to myself recently. Selfish I guess, but I had had enough of their whingeing.

If you, and any others out there, are interested in some more Kiwi Cessna repaints I will start uploading them again. As I said, I have around 40 in total at the moment with another 10 nearly done.

The offer still stands too - if you have a specific Cessna/s that you want done, then I'd be more than happy to do it. So far I have just been picking ones that I liked the look of. I went out to my local airfield, Paraparaumu, a couple of weeks back and photographed a whole bunch of Cessnas there, so they are my current work in progress.

I will definitely be doing some Pipers when they arrive. I have already collected mountains of reference for them.

If I can work out how to post screenshots, I will post some examples on this forum.

Yeah definietely interested in any you have Steve, can accept emails if you still don't want to release publically  Would be great to get more realistic GA in my NZ skies.

As far as requests, would be great to see some of the Wanaka Flightseeing fleet:

Oh yes! I will do a couple more AI/AFCAD packages for Wanaka and a Flightseeing Cessna or two would be most welcome, Steve.
If you don't want to post them I could include them in the package.

I had a look at the Airtrainers, and there's scope for a little group AI flying for sure. Is it just me, or are they 2/3 scale? A Spitfire happened to park adjacent, and it towered over the CT4.
Doesn't really matter, I could separate them from the rest.

Have a look in the screenshots forum for a look at a Wanaka Flightseeing Cessna that I had already done.

Cheers

My copy of Real Wanaka arrived today - amazing work as usual Robin, and with a minimal hit on performance. This area offers a lot of good airport sceneries to fly between now, so I suggest everyone to get a copy of this latest work and pull your favourite GA plane for some low and slow through the hills. ;)

Thanks for your continuing work and bring on Wellington! B)
