As announced previously, this GNZLAP Special Release is now on AVSIM.

Ever wondered where to fly your Fletcher?
Wonder no more…there's a guided tour awaiting you, courtesy of the Wanganui Aero Work Fletcher fleet.

This package is a little different from previous GNZLAP releases.
The focus is still on AI planes in New Zealand - but this time they are treated as guides to take you to some of the challenging airfields and farm strips in the Taranaki/ Wanganui/Manawatu districts.

Following the AI planes will lead you to some of the farm strips where the Fletchers (and Cresco's) stop to load up, before heading out to the fields for topdressing duty.

Startup flights are included; out of Wanganui NZWU, Stratford NZSD and Taihape NZVR.
These sceneries have been uploaded concurrently by Snowman.
You should download and install these first, as they are required for the package to work properly.
AVSIM is having a little finger trouble today, so please be a patient!
A search on "Charl" by date will no doubt get you there...

Thanks, PD. You could argue about "Better"...both Snowman and I have broken a Fletcher trying to get into farmstrip NG02 cool.gif

What a great idea. I went on one of the "select a flight" rides and sure enough, there I was following this aircraft that gave me plenty of time to taxi out behind him on some farm strip out in the middle of somewhere. Great fun. I can see me spending some time with this addon. Thanks Charl and Lawrie, it works a treat. clapping.gif

Well it gives me a genuine kick to hear you're enjoying it.
There's always a bit of doubt in there, that the dam thing won't work on someone else's setup.
Some of the strips are a real challenge, as mentioned.
Putty medal goes to the first person who gets a Dromader into NG02...

File is pzl m-18a.zip - can't recall if it was AVSIM, bit it's Tim Conrad.
Yago9 did a brilliant photoreal paint of it, which I modified slightly at some stage.

Scenery is FS9 all the way.
The AI would work for FSX if someone did some new airfields

I haven't got round to getting the ugly Polish beast but managed to land a Piper Twin Comanche into NG02 - does that deserve something?? Actually I did it twice - first time I bounced off the edge of the hill onto the strip without any damage - the second time was dead on - although a bit left of the strip - wish I filmed it for proof! ........wouldn't dear try the other way - those trees are in the way............

Well you must've nailed it dead on the threshold. Takeoff you would've been 140 feet shy, dropped off like a brick did it? biggrin.gif

But (sim) pilots being the braggards that they are, I've decided to set up the Fletcher Challenge.
Entries will be in the form of a short video clip showing the landing, followed by the takeoff in the same direction, at NG02 followed by NG03.
Takeoff to be at MTOW, and pilot must survive to collect.
First successful entry will have their name engraved on the below, to appear in perpetuity, pinned to the top of this forum.

haha - must give this a go - waht aircraft - any?? Yep it dropped off the ridge like a brick and brushed some trees on the way down but eventually got enough airspeed up.

I keep forgetting to post this, was reminded by someone emailing a question...
If you follow an AI plane on the downwind leg, it will assume you have right of way, and wait for you to make the base leg turn.
If you don't, it will simply keep going...forever.
SO if you think it's all going on a bit long - make a LH 360 and see what the AI does.
You can rejoin it at any time after it turns.

Found that out the hard way about 2 months ago when i was writing my race plans, followed this a/c and got so cheesed
off following it after it had reported base i I hung a hard left and blow me down this thing then reported finals at about 30 miles out !! Lol

How did you manage to land that big plane into such a small airstrip??
