HTAI planes...

The official Forum for the GNZLAP and Charl's other NZ AI addons

Postby Bazza » Thu Apr 10, 2008 7:51 pm

After one previous fouled up attempt, I have installed GNZLAP, and am totally impressed with what I have so far. I also have WOAI ANZ and Qantas. Today at Ak International I got three go-arounds.....wow ?

Because I was totally unsure of my ability to get this running, I have yet to get the HTAI planes, but will do that tomorrow...

I didn't install the aircraft files for the HTAI planes, but put them to one side pending.

Two questions......

1. Do the HTAI aircraft come as a "download" or a mailed disc...?

2. What form do they come in and how do I add them....?

I know this is probably simplistic to most of you, but depletion of brain matter due to the onset of age means that I am somewhat challenged in these areas..

Thanks to our local members for this program.....good stuff.. >nzflag<

Goodonya Bazza!
The answers will be found at the HTAI site, but just so you know up front:
1. It's a download ~20MB or so if memory seres
2. It's a self-extractor with clear instructions, so no pain!
I reckon it's a great investment - the Cessna's are deployed all over the world - I even found one in Budapest!

I would have to agree with Charl, purchasing the HTAI planes and having them work with GNZLAP, is one of the better investment you will make when it comes to bringing virtual NZ skys alive (REALNZ scenery's are another must have)

Well, I purchased and installed them, and everything seems to be where it should be.

However, I have no Cessnas - specifically I checked at Tauranga and Ardmore but there's nothing parked there, or coming and going.

I see in the GNZLAP Installation read-me, there is a file to be removed from the Scenery/World/Scenery folder : HTAI CSEP.bgl.
I found this file, it had been installed in another newly created Scenery/World/Scenery file, apart from the original. I removed that file but
still no Cessnas.

The relevant files showing in the Scenery/World/Scenery folder are :

Traffic 030528.bgl 14244
GNZLAP50.bgl
GNZLAP52.bgl
TRAFFIC HTAI.NONZ.bgl

I have tried removing some of these in turn but no luck - can someone help me before my wife discovers $20 missing from her credit card acct.

Possible Clue :

On trying to open the demo Flight from Tauranga I get the following fault message "The flight you are trying to open is missing as associated flight plan - C. Docs and Settings/CdT/My Docs/FS Files/VFR TGA to Whakatane."

OK...
First install the HTAI Cessnas, and THEN GNZLAP. This overwrites the stock HTAI models, adding NZ.
Except I bogged up the aircraft.cfg files in release 5.2 so you have to manually copy and paste the aircraft.cfg entries for the 152 and 172 planes as posted in this forum. (Sorry!)
Rename
Traffic 030528.bgl 14244
to
Traffic 030528.bak (as I'm not entirely sure what it is - may just be stock AI which you don't want)
and
GNZLAP50.bgl
to
GNZLAP50.bak (as 52 superseded this)
Don't worry about the "No flightplan" announcement for your aircraft, I saved the flights and didn't copy over the flightplans into the release.
It doesn't influence anything...other than you won't have a flightplan!

Ripper ! ! !

Just went to Tauranga and when I thought all was lost, there were Son and Sis...........

Does this indicate I might have cracked it after 5 hours....?

Can you give me an indication of Where, and at what time, I might expect to see a few of these parked up....?

Bazza, that was the idea of the saved flights included in the package - they put you down somewhere when somethng is likely to stir.
Your question is a common one, and it's a difficult thing to say: Go there, that time, and see lots of AI in action!
It's more of a background thing, sort of stuff you notice out of the corner of your eye as you fly around the virtual world.
Bear in mind the sim needs to run for 5 minutes or so before the AI wakes up properly and sorts itself out.
Although it becomes part of the experience - I turned off AI for some reason the other day, and couldn't believe what a miserable experience flightsimming had become!
EDIT: Now I think of it...go to NZTG at 19:00 GMT B-)

Thanks for your trouble Charl...... my main interest in "spotting" was to convince myself that I got the program running. I had the initial stuff going from the word go, i.e. Pipers everywhere and Lear Jets etc. I have now spotted enough Cessnas to consider I might have cracked it. This has already added the needed planes about the place to add to the interest.

My main interest has always been light aircraft and with scenery add-ons etc having greatly improved things, I tend to fly locally, i.e. Tauranga, Taupo, Rotorua, Hamilton etc. The GNZLAP is something I wanted to do for a while but knowing my propensity to stuff things up, I needed a few spare hours to sit with it.

I'll now do what I should have done in the first place, go back thru the forum on this topic and bone up a bit. I see there are a couple of other "alterations" to make as well.

Pleased that you were "seated at the organ" during working hours to provide some backup for your project...tks again.

Haha today was indeed a busy day at the office, hence my constant attendance at "the Organ".
I claim multitasking abilities - in fact there are never less than a dozen buttons open on the task bar, including IE open at NZFF.
I get notifications from NZFF about topic replies, so I can just flip over and have a looksee.
Of course, NOBODY has EVER walked in to see anything but this forum open on my desktop, and it's at times like these that I'm so happy we have a great looking banner on the masthead!
EDIT: Apart from the latest goof with the aircraft.cfg files, there should not be too much to fiddle with in GNZLAP, as successive packs cumulatively overwrite all previous versions.
