I'm considering an upgrade to one of the more recent Graphics Cards but not sure which way to go...........
Running presently a Nvidia GForce 8800GTS and has been great but am concerned that it may be breaking down at times
Would like to hear from anyone running the Radeon 4870 or the Nvidia GTX 280 or 285?
Although these cards seem to be well reviewed on Tom's Hardware, would be keen to know how they actually perform under
FSX conditions.
I am sure this topic was posted sometime ago, but maybe someone has more recent suggestions/recommendations....
Thanks unsure.gif

I'm running the GTX280, it runs FSX great I must say. Although it's a little hard to say how well it would cope with FSX on another machine with different specs.

I'm not sure if it's been fixed in the 285, but be careful with the GTX280 as I've found it has a major heating problem if there isn't at least 1 fast fan blowing COLD air onto the side of it. I can't play games that are highly graphic in hot weather (30 degrees+) and it's pretty much only playable for 5 or so minutes before the card overheats and the game starts to have problems (crashing, flickering textures most likely and the unusual coloured 'checkerboard').

FSX doesn't demand too much out of it actually, I've only ever seen the 'checkerboard' problem once, that was in 35 degrees with all the setting maxed, bloom on, dx10 on etc.
