I have been lake hopping around the lower South Island with the Beaver.
I live at Wanaka & so are familiar with the terain.
Is there no Nav/GPS switch in this plane?

Sometimes gauge settings arent always visible when using the VC so:

Try using Shift + 1 to bring up the 2D panel or Shift + other numbers for different parts of the panel (i.e. Shift + 3 for GPS)
In the VC, try hitting 'a' to cycle through the views
Consult the Kneeboard for the aircraft
Use radio navigation! hehe

If I setup a flight plan in the 172 then change to the Beaver it will follow it with the GPS but I don't think they were designed to run together.
