As Jon said at the moment they have to be hand written in the XML file to be completely successful
first you have to decompile the default FSX airport which is a APX BGL file to a XML file
make all the changes then compile back to a BGL file with the Tools in the SDK supplied with the DeLuxe version of FSX, takes about a week to do airports like Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and 4 weeks to do the large airports,
We are currently Beta testing a afcad style program that will work with FSX airports
you can follow the progress and download the SDE program at fsdeveloper.com/forum
which is looking promising

FSXPlanner is now available. Give it a try.
Cheers

FSX planner is coming along but yes, you do need knowledge of the XML to tweak things that FSX planner generates (such as multiple exclude rectangles that build up in XML)

Yea FSX planner is a great tool, gets better with each version, thumbup1.gif and Timmo can't you just give the exclusion rectangle lat and long coordinates and it will cover it ?

I'm using ADE (Airport Development Environment) for my Enstone scenery. It's not so far along the development cycle as FSPlanner, but it directly works with bgls, and you don't need to worry about xml, and also connects to FSX. v0.47 is also available from FSDeveloper: http://fsdeveloper.agerrius.nl/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=82 (you'll see it's the next forum up winkyy.gif )

Yep you can just draw a rectangle in FSX planner to exclude all the things that this type of exclude covers (i.e. these excludes dont remove autogen trees and buildings or vector features).

The problem (its a bug so it will likely be fixed in the next version) is that FSX planner creates lots and lots and lots of exclude rectangles in the XML code.......hundreds of em....even though you have only drawn one.

Check your xml if you have used the latest version (as at 31st of July) and scroll down near the end of the code- Youll see heaps of exclusion rectangles

Another option for exclusion rectangles / flattens etc is SBuilderX. This will let you place the polys over a backdrop of Google Earth for accuracy.
