Error When Installing SP1 for FSX

A forum specifically to discuss the latest and greatest of all flight simulators

Hey there,
So I went ahead and tried to install Service Pack One for FSX.

1.I completely uninstalled FSX
2.Re-installed it
3.Then ran FSX once.
4.Went ahead and installed SP1

Then half way through installation I get this message:

So i proceed to click "retry" nothing works, then I decide to click the "ignore" button.
I get a similar message:

Just that this time its Config.....PTF1.tmp
I click ignore once more and another message comes up, Its exactly the same as the 2 above but its: Config.....PTF2.tmp this time.

After clicking "ignore" once more, A message comes up saying the service pack was successfully installed...
But when I try to run it an error message comes up:

I have no idea whats going on sad.gif
Any "computer wizards" willing to shed some light on what I have done wrong and what I could do to resolve this problem?

Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Smiggles

Have you just recently bought FSX? If it, for example, is one of the versions that come bundled with FSX: Acceleration, then its probable that you have, by default, already installed the service packs to SP2.

Otherwise, try uninstalling all addons, then doing a 'repair' then installing SP1

Ive got Net Framework 2.0 (SP2), 3.0 (SP2), and 3.5 SP1 installed, and also Visual C++ 2005 redistributable.

And I bought fsx about 2 years ago, so I don't think that I have acceleration on it.

Do you guys know what those Config....Msi files are?
Regards,

No, but that would be a good starting point -- if you have tried to previously install SP1, then these temp files may already exist, and the installer recognises this. I wonder if it would help to delete that folder and start over.

Try a registry clean a good free program is CCleaner will clean up all temp files registry files and also has an uninstaller I have been using it for a couple of years now and find it very good for cleaning up all the junk on my computer and uninstalling unwanted programs.
