Here are my results:
(whilst not totally objective, it's a fair indication. did a quick circuit around NZAA)
Code: Select all
2007-05-17 20:08:36 - fsx pre sp1
Frames: 2529 - Time: 180000ms - Avg: 14.050 - Min: 1 - Max: 24

2007-05-17 20:20:59 - fsx with sp1
Frames: 3962 - Time: 180000ms - Avg: 22.011 - Min: 12 - Max: 33

whilst it looks like a 50% increase, the second run was maybe a little less taxing. certainly makes a meaningful difference and worth the download (and the wait)

My specs:
P4 3.0GHz HT
1GB
Geforce 6800GS 256MB

Really good improvements so far...getting smooth performance over Robin's NZWN, and Peter's NZQN. Just had a quick multiplayer flight with Zolt and Jon. Good improvements there also.

Its Peter Lohrs NZQN.

The big diffrence in multiplayer is the 'server' can now kick people off, other than that it was unchanged.

What about the host changing role without a server restart.

As I said, everything else is unchanged :(

a bit off topic- I never got that queenstown scenery to work in FSX....it kept telling me that i would "collide with an object if i started at the airport" or when i started somewhere else and looked towards the scenery it would crash??

CapSim 757 , consider'd to be the frame hog , over CHCH lookin over toward NZCH ,

I have also found since FSX removes the ground polygons , ie some created taxi and ramp area's the frame rates have increased by 50 %

Coming into Wigram , with most all sliders maxed with this model smooth as silk at 24fps . follow typical RNZAF 75 display with a high eng climb out wingover

For the Christchurch people , that s the Springs Rd Junction out Hornby way , then return to NZCH .. the detail of this model shown with this wing veiw

As we settle into NZCH

I used to play with almost everything low. Now everything except autogen which is at sparce is at ultra high and getting lag free gameplay!

My fps have gone up between 40-60% depending on the scenery and complexity. Around places like Chicago Ohare it has allowed me to use the area with useable results. I was lucky to get 5-9 fps on the tarmac now get 15-18 fps. In mountains and less populated areas getting 25-36 fps steady. Most sliders are maxed except land detail not checked, Frames are now locked at 30, after having some problems with stutters. Read on Paul Taylors blog about getting frames over 40, sometimes may cause stutters, tried it and flights have smoothed out. I did not do a clean install, I left everything, landclass files, scenery addons, aircraft addons, fsg mesh, and tweaks. I moved fsx.cfg and then returned it after install. No problems encountered at all. This is the very first time I have used a new patch and got such great results from it. Kudos to Aces Studios.

A marginal improvement in the fps numbers (for what they're worth: 12 is not enough better than 10 to get me excited). But whereas in pre-sp1 I could fly over photo scenery with no blurries and just the slightest hint of stutter, it's now as jerky as a jerky thing being jerked for a good un.

On balance, I think it comes out even-to-poor.

After reading around here and what was on windowlight about fsx and sp1 {if you havent installed sp1 it was worth the effort to at lest try }etc ....
well i thought that was pretty good advice after paying out $100 or so for fsx
so i defraged the drive installed fsx then the patch sp1 213mb, by the way that was the best part really download speed was like 184kb so 213mb in about 15minutes
i see what you guys are going on about but i still think you are wasting your time with this new version full stop
my system 7600gt ddr3 /2gb ram/3.0 hyper tread processer that performs well plus all the other stuff running in here so there isnt a lag there
flps where a bit better but still had to turn stuff down, i had no addons installed..

i think looking at fsx to my fs9 install it looks about 5 years behind i mite aswell be running my old puter with my 64 graphic/card and 2002 installed because that is the closes memory that i could think of to the feeling i get with fsx and sp1 installed

i cant belive you guys can take a back step like this again after all the troubles we had getting our fs9 installs right no stutters lots of eye candy and the endless working downloads that dont need to be turn down in you scenery settings ,not to mention the lack of traffic or rain on your windows in a storm

yes sp1 did do something to fsx but is it enough ?,i dont think so
im not new to simming so i know what im missing out on but its all about flight around a realnz to me and not a slow boring looking nz within fsx at the moment

this edition was meant for some future in the future ,or to bring new younger gamer type youths to fsworld were we have been for awhile now

in the end of my testings you mite of guessed im uninstalling again with a sad face :( i could of brought some nice ac for that $100 dollars
