Ok First of all not the worlds best shots.
a) because I am tires
b) I forgot and quickly took them on final
c) I was trying to find a repaint close to the hearts of this foruma nd the best I could get was qantas.

These are not taken to show off scenery. When I take shots I did not alow it time to render. I hope it shows what you all wnat to see. More and better to come I promise.

Qantas in the air about 15 NM out

Failed attempt to show cockpit

Showing crash model and how it is better there than MSFS. Although some disagree.

Enjoy.

Edit. Sorry it should be FU3 in the title not FU£.

Interesting shots there, it always good to see comparisons between FS programs. I can't help thinking though that it looks like FS back in the late 90s... Maybe give the scenery time to render (how long does that take?).

Scenery is the thing I look at more than the plane (can't see much of the outside when sitting in the cockpit) so I'd be more interested in how that looks.

Apart from the plane being able to fall apart (I fly with crash damage off anyway) what advantages does FSU have over FS9 or FSX?

Cheers

Matt

My memory of the FU software is it was all about flight dynamics - you could for example do a genuine snap roll which MS sims can't .
Is there a glider package in FU3?

Flight unlimited 3 was designed in 1998/99. It was rush released by LG and EA.

It no longer has advantages over MSFS. It did until FSX came out.

As for the scenery if I had a decent graphics crad you would be suprised. It was designed useing photographs it is not a world wide sim though strictly prohibted to washignton state.

To the point. FU was and always had been designed for flight dynamics. It was designed in a way to show MS that they had failigns and only had the market becuase they had worldwide airports and a marketing team.

In FU3 I can do thigns only FS can dream of. Simple thigns you pay money for I have. The ATC I have can handle emergencies and everything else that MS has.

When flying the modelign is more fluid to handle and is more realistic to a real plane. You actually have alarms and mater caution/warnigns. You can experience many failiures FS does not ahve. Infact FU3 was designed by one man, who afetr the bankruptcy of LG went to MS and created the engine for FS9, but left out certain FU3 thigns he felt belonged to his sim.

This man designed a sim for the simmer not the market and profit portfolio or investor in mind. HE created a weather engine which still outdoes MSFS. He even made simple things easier for us. The folders are an example instead fo when you get an add on of haveing to go to many folders, you created one .res file and pasted it into plnpile folder. That means you eliminate the chance of you screwing up. There are no special file formats a repaint cna be read in any format. All the design tools where released as freeware or authors created there own.

Its flight dynamics differ for one reason teh way the math is done. FS if I recall, gets full weight and the way you handle from the weight int he centre tank and that is it. In FU3 the plane take sinto account weight of fule where it is displaced and passenger weight.

My arm is sore now so I am going to stop typeing.

Ironic that it is named Flight Unlimited then! FU2 was the first sim I ever played and I loved it- I wish I hadn't sold it on trademe now, it would be interesting to compare it to FS9 now. At the time when I played it I thought the graphics were amazing, however after years of tweaking and enhancing my current sim, I'm sure I would be appalled at a 1990's simulation effort.

Interesting approach to the FM by using the weights/mass for the calculation compared to X-plane now which calculates particles across the aircrafts surfaces. I've heard alot of people say x-plane now days has the best FM for a comercial sim, lockon Flaming cliffs also adds weight and mass plus the drag for each weapon and pylon so dropping a bomb off one wing requires trim to keep the aircraft level. Its amazing how such features are being added to sims now to create the ultimate simming experince I think future sims maybe even more complex if they allow physics cards to use more complex FMs.

Where did you download the QANTAS plane?

I had FU2, when it came out it far surpassed FS98 as it had AI, virtual cockpits and ATC! (I think the ATC is still more realistic that FS9)

Isn't it evident?? Boeing are my favourite aircraft.

P.S. that's is my real birthday but I wish to keep my real age secret to keep you all pondering.

We have a small community that are all creating add ons. So I got it from avsim to answer your question.

I believe australia is currently being created. The only negative is many of our designers went to MSFS so we are left with a few loyal people. And sadly some have passed away. Others have been hired for MSFS to improve it. That is of the original design team of course.
