Thanks Kade. Looks fabulous.

The video linked off their homepage (link following) done by Nassault630 is by far the most stunning piece of in-game cinematography I've ever seen, simply amazing....

Yep - that's some seriously good video work just using in-game graphics.

Open beta is out, started playing it about 5 day ago and I'm enjoying it so far.

Pretty much world of tanks...except with planes. There's no balancing yet so you're bound to be in matches with the starter plane against mig-15s. Joystick vs Mouse is a big thing, using a joystick you're at a massive disadvantage in dogfights, but for me in bombers I find the precision of a joystick irreplaceable.

Lots of fun, lots of frustration and not a sim (unless you want to wait minutes to join a 'historical battle' which limits you on planes anyway)

It looses enjoyability being in medium-high tier aircraft and being super sniped by Russian players and having I16s chasing and shooting you down. Best to stick to full real game mode.

So far I'm only playing as the Japanese bombers, unlocked the last KI49 last night and it's a blast. Can't for the life of me get to use the mouse and go dogfighting with some zeros, it just doesnt feel right. Next up I think I'll go for the Russian bombers or British.

It does get frustrating when all of your ally fighters are attacking the ground targets while you're left up at 20,000ft having to aim bombs, switch to your gunners to shoot those interceptors aswell as trying to maneouver and shake them. Most of the time it ends badly, but oh when you shoot that beaufighter down that you were certain would be your doom, so so satisfying.

@Ian - I've got some screenshots and would post them but what you see on the warthunder site are definitely in-game screenshots

I'll get some up then Ian, though I've only got them of the same aircraft laugh.gif

Also just went over and started on the Ruskie aircraft, figured I'd give mouse and keyboard a go. Woah...I knew there was an advantage but wow! I might get 1 non-fluke kill using a joystick and going through about 6 of my planes, but the first match in the first tier I-15R I managed to down 5 planes and had someone on my own team trying to TK me for a good part of 5 minutes. Saved the replay, just gotta fraps it and youtube that.

Still working on a few replays, might not get them recorded though. Replay system is good but when I start recording with fraps, the replay can't keep up and needs to load some more of it.

Interesting how flying with a mouse is more advantageous? Can someone explain why?

Bloody horrid trying to fly anything with a mouse , is this the only way to control these in this game ?

You can use a joystick and don't get me wrong, you can do good with it aswell. It's just the way the game is setup that using a mouse makes it an advantage. Basically you control the throttle with left shift and control (default keys), and with the mouse you 'point' the target reticle where you want the plane to go and that will automatically put the rudder/elevator and ailerons into the best posistion to get to that point you want to be as fast as possible. Aswe;; as that, you get none of the subtle shaking you get with a joystick.

The mouse controls are actually pretty good for a flying game. Hopefully they give some sort of advantage to joystick users, afterall it is a flight game.

Just started playing this myself, with a joystick because with a mouse the target reticule was shaking all over the show. Not sure if thats just an issue with my hardware, or something designed to even it up a bit?

Also it seems they have sorted out a matchmaking system, i'm still level 2 and have only seen level 0,1 and 2 aircraft in every battle I've done so far.

It is wicked fun though, even though most games I average 0 or 1 kills, with maybe a couple of ground kills if I'm lucky.

Anybody here who plays keen to team up Sunday night in a full real mode game? I can semi provide limited cover in full real mode with my medium-high tier aircraft.

I could be keen, never played full real battles though. Also pretty limited with Aircraft. I only have a pair of hurricanes, a spitfire, and two bombers. My handle is "Huff3r", same as here.
