Check it out. http://www.airwargame.com/eng

Its not IL2 as you know it, but it does have some really nice graphics and runs quite nicely on slightly older computers too.

Demo download by torrent (from them) took around 1hr for 1.3Gb. The full game is about 6Gb download and I'm gonna get it once I've saved up a few pennies!

Yeah, does look quite interesting, but being stuck with starting every mission in the air is a bit of an off-put for me...

Kahu has secrets!???!! OHHHHHH, we vill hav to get zem out of heeeem!

For me, Wings of Prey is more eye candy and less simulator. The game (online anyway) is more about teamwork, tactics, the right plane for the right job and the sounds of war. IL2 scenery still looks good at 15,000 feet, but I'm not in the cockpit to ohhh and ahh over the buildings, trees, ground units and so on smile.gif

Mind you, my opinion is subject to change at moments notice!

You can put it onto Sim mode but the gameplay is still somewhat "arcade" rather than having true ebb and flow like IL2: 1946 had - the controls just get a lot more "real". You can also start from the ground if you want, you don't always have to start in the air.
