A Real New Zealand subscriber -- I'm not aware on their name -- has posted some comments that my Real New Zealand subscription is not what it was marketed as. I've had a close read of the original subscription conditions, but cannot see any problems. There has been some talk of legal action, but I'll just wait and see what happens.
However, in fairness to those who may feel that this anonymous poster is correct, I am prepared to amend the subscription terms in this one circumstance.
The following is added to the subscription cancellation clause:
Those who are not prepared to wait any further for the fifth and final subscription release can apply to cancel their subscription, and receive a refund of NZ$22.00. The refund will be made via Paypal.
This alteration is made in case others were confused by the original subscription offer.

If it helps any to speed up the fifth release, where do I send my payment for No. Six?

This really brings up the subject of future subscriptions. There are points for and against beginning a new subscription. I have put any decision on hold for the moment, as the next release after Marlborough will be Auckland International, which is a part of the current subscription.
The main reason for the original subscription was to get the business off the ground, and ensure enough cashflow to survive the first year. Subsequent subscriptions would be purely a way to thank those who choose to support me.
At the moment I am considering moving on to Australian projects after Auckland. I have 3 real choices if I continue scenery design:
1. remain in New Zealand and produce local scenery on a part-time basis;
2. divide my (full)time between New Zealand and Australia;
3. just stick to Australia.
I will make up my mind at the end of this month, as this is the end of the financial year, and I'll have a better idea of my current position.

I can't remember an undertaking to do NZAA inside the subscription, but then I don't read the fine print.
I'd be happy to buy it as a standalone product, and the rest of the world will too.
I'd much rather see these inside a future subscription:
North Shore (OK just kidding, I see I'll have to learn GMax and make my own)
Ardmore
Taupo
Paraparaumu
Hamilton
Palmerston North
Using the NZ subscription base, you could dip a toe across the Tasman.
'Course if you think NZ has pirates, wait 'til you see what lurks beyond.
A little encryption would firm up your income for sure, and allow you to do those sceneries we all want to see: in NZ!

Be cool if someone produced a good quality photoreal Taupo - it's listed because it hasn't appeared.

its appeared have you not seen the screenshots. Scenery is not something that can be done in 2 seconds. it takes a lil bit of time to get everything right. and unlike some people others have lives away from fs which makes the whole thing stretch a little bit more.

I'm perfectly happy with my subscription. I've been around FS long enough to know that if you want quality, it doesn't come overnight, or even every other month. Also the fact that you're including stuff for FSX within the sub could be seen as a bit of a bonus.
As someone who is in the process of migrating to NZ, I think it'd be a shame if you felt you were unable to continue developing for NZ, and it would be a tragedy if the cause was the irresponsible actions of a few idiots.

I think the whole set of Real NZ scenery is well worth the waite, and price.
In fact I thought it was a little under priced Robin, considering what you have, and are, going to deliver.
It would be sad to see you go, but I do understand the financial implications of doing it full time.
If you stay, there are many more airports and scenery that I am sure you would be able to sell. Napier, Taupo, etc.....
Just tell me where to send the check to.......

I certainly am not unhappy, I love every single one of your addons from REAL NZ!
If you switched to making Ozzie scenerys, I'd still buy them as I know whatever you produce is gonna be quality, including any further NZ scenerys.
On the flip side, NZ has to be one of the most highly represented countries in the world of FS scenery addons right now, thanks to the red baron mesh and topo, and Robins and others freeware projects. If you did stop, it would be a shame, but you will leave a huge legacy behind you!
Keep up the great work, I support you 110%

Ditto for me Rob.
I am more than happy with all the RealNZ sceneries i have purchased from you.
I am happy to wait for as long as it takes, for Release number 5. NO refund required !!
As with Charl, i would be MORE than happy to PAY for Auckland International as a standalone purchase. Your workmanship is TOP class

, and after sales help and troubleshooting is second to none !!
No matter what you decide business wise, i WILL CONTINUE to support your business by purchasing your work, and if it helps any, i would be glad to pre-pay more for future releases.

Sad that someone can be so petty as to complain about the RealNZ subscriptions. Normally with subscriptions, you have to wait for each issue anyway, so there is nothing different with the RealNZ subscriptions. Pity that this person is being so extreme in his/her reactions.
I say, keep up the good work with RealNZ, and I for one will certainly be buying Marlborough, AKL int. etc. Good things are worth waiting for.
smooth landings.

Don't you just love these 'brave' anonymous complainers? These are the types that think the world owes them a living and make it their business to find things to complain about. Everyone knows that real NZ releases happen when they happen. In fact the longer they take the better as that would suggest more time and effort is going into them as opposed to a strict deadline that says it's ready for release because the calender says so! I've not made a trip to town for ages and have had an envelope put aside for ages to deposit into the Windowlight account when I next went to town.
I hope you stay doing NZ. Isn't Aussie well represented with the VOZ guys doing airports and cities etc.. to a high standard? and Aussie is so flat and boring (OK it's got the Blue Mts) but nothing compared to NZ.

The support I've received has been very gratifying. At the moment I'm still happy to continue with what I'm doing (being committed to Auckland Intl after Marlborough) and there are plenty of airports on my can't-wait list after that.
A number of issues have combined to make me reconsider my future direction. The main issue was the release of FSX -- the changes have caught all designers by surprise, much more so than any previous update. Some of the new features work well, others don't. For instance, self-shadowing and bump mapping are two new features which most designers have been waiting for, but in reality they are not well-implemented. Others, such as AI shipping, have no SDK info or tools at present.
I can understand subscribers getting fidgety, and maybe by committing to a dual release for Marlborough I may have overextended myself. All this, though, is ultimately just an exercise in growth and development. However when it is combined with a recent huge increase in apparent piracy of my work, and the new and unexpected personal attacks, I may have succumbed to negativity -- not like me at all, but understandable.
I've had a large number of emails regarding Australia, even before making any public suggestion that I was looking in that direction. Basically they fall into two categories -- those that see the need for something separate from the existing projects, with an emphasis on quality rather than quantity, and those who think that the market is pretty much taken care of over there. Both have good points, and I admit that my thinking has been mainly powered by the idea that if I can *almost* make a living here in New Zealand with our 4 million folk, I should be able to jump the gap between 'almost' and 'comfortably' by jumping the ditch, with their larger population.
Not to mention the climate -- the older I get the more I enjoy Ausrtalia:)

Don't move to Melbourne then. Yesterday 37 degrees, today 19. And this is normal! The days were you get nice middle to high twenties are probably as frequent as in Wellington.
