Woodbourne area flattens - VLC
I am starting a separate thread for this, because I don't want ORBX / FTX issues complicating things.
I have FSX +Acc running under Win7x64. I use FS Global 2010 mesh, and in NZ, VLC with RealNZ and Godzone Photoscenery .
I have always had big 'steps' or 'cliffs' in the general Woodbourne area, but it was livable.
Doug sent me the updated Marlborough files which I merged with the RealNZ Marlborough I already had. The colours seem more vivid and this makes the edges of the flattens much more obvious.
So I am using the little Halo buggy to make a ground survey, to compare with the features shown on the NZ Topo Map page.
Running off the W end of the runway, I met three steps of about 5m each. Heading E, there is one major one, of about the same height.
The NZ Topo Map shows a 20m contour E of the airport, a 30m one which encroaches slightly on the W end, and a 40m one some way further W.
Luckily there are a some creeks very conveniently placed to camouflage flatten edge cliffs. I intend to create a big flatten to create sensible levels, without inappropriate cliffs.
Tuesday and Wednesday are museum days, so I won't be doing anything until Thursday at the earliest. I can see what is needed, just need the time and the patience to do it.
