subscription elevations

Postby goingboeing » Sat Feb 21, 2015 4:59 pm

Hey Rob hope things are good mate, fired up RO this arvo and like a few of my subscription downloads im getting sunken runways so that the top half of a/c is visible and physical runway is below the photreal scenery. I tried to re-order the scenery priority which changed it slightly. but still issues any ideas ill get some screenies for you if that helps?

What mesh do you use?
Do you have any other Rotorua scenery? The installer will tidy up any previous scenery of mine, if it can, but it is up to you to disable anything else.

From a quick search here, it's obvious you have Orbx NZ. Remember that you need to set the FTX priority using FTX Central, so that any airport/local scenery is above it in the library. You just have to do this once, and it's set.

yea I have set your sceneries to a higher priority in ftx central and maxed all the sliders in terms of scenery resolutions and this is the result below. figure it could be a bgl/bak case or something?

That is quite strange, actually Orbx use the default elevation for NZRO from memory, so it shouldn't be that mucking it up -- and Napier is just plain weird.

What do you get if you search your FSX install for 'NZRO'?

hi again, so I switched FTX central to default and everthing RO wise is now sweet so it must be an orbx issue could it be vector or something else? I can't keep flying like that because outside of your photoscenery is that horrible sand coloured default fsx :)

Have you ever installed the Orbx NZNI Service Patch?

You might need to manually disable the Orbx files, just search your FSX install for 'NZRO' and change the filename of anything with 'FTX' in the name to '.off' to disable it.

Except for any found file in Scenery\World\Scenery, this time a '.off' extension probably won't work (FTX Central will just turn it back on), try '.bak'.

Same for the other airports.

(The reason why I ask about NZNI SP is that I did think that FTX NZRO used the default elevation, but maybe the pre-patch version didn't.)

The Subscription doesn't include any airport changes for Napier, so I guess something else is stuffing it up. Likely culprits include VLC Airfields, and I think Lawrie did Napier?

If you are running Global vector, run the vector configurator and there is an airport elevation correction tool, automatically turns off corrections for addon airports.

I don't the Global vector but I have found the Orbx switch's played up and conflict with our secondary NZ scenery.

ok guys if i turn orbx to default instead of oceania i get a normal runway but its offset from the photoreal scenery so the elevation must be an issue with orbx? see below

James I think, very sure once turned ORBX off the default Microsoft airport kicks in and many off those are not in correctly matched .. close but not to photo, some are near perfect and others a little off ... this can be seen via the taxi ways but can be corrected with an AFCAD tool like AFX for example.

Well done Robin on some more amazing photoreal sceneries.

In a similar vein, I'm seeing additional buildings and jetty's in Rototua. By elimination It appears they are Orbx derived but I don't know what to turn off. If I turn off Orbx NI the problem disappears.

Does anybody else see what I do as shown below?

I can't even remember of I checked if the jetty required an exclude, sorry. I'll put together a nuke when I get home. Currently sitting outside the bakery in Lyttelton using free WiFi to download aerials of Rotorua [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH] since I used all my allowance this month!
