Issue 4 is 100% Wellington, with a huge chunk of autogenned photoscenery, plus a 'transitional' Wellington airport. I have just today removed the info from the site stating that projects like Wellington Airport won't be included -- as I've explained before, if I don't make it part of the subscription, then it is entirely possible that it'll never see the light of day.

Off the record, my immediate plans (subject to raising the airfares/car rental/motel) are to visit Napier/Hastings, so that there'll be at least two fully-modeled airports as part of the Subscription. Also off the record, October is 'crunch' month, where if I don't get new customers I have to reconsider the viability of the subscription. That'd be a shame, as it was the only way I could figure how to keep on developing New Zealand scenery.

So here we are 40% into the subscription period, now would be a good time to think about subscribing. Current installments are 3 x $33, but bear in mind that I am open to arrangements other than 3 monthly payments. For example, it would not be an entirely silly idea to arrange the first installment now, download all the available scenery, then put the rest on hold -- sure, you'd lose access to the downloads once I catch on to the fact that you won't be paying the second installment, but you'll still have the scenery to keep, provided you downloaded it before I cut you off...

This type of arrangement really only works with a manual order, contacting me by email, rather than the in-built Paypal installments.

And then, when you are ready, you could contact me to arrange the balance of the subscription.

There's been a bit of discussion about the forums on the likelihood of future New Zealand releases from Orbx, but it does seem that this won't happen. Orbx have stated that the limited market doesn't justify any further development, and I've always been aware that this is true. I've said before that putting your money into something like the Subscription is your best bet for ongoing, dedicated development of NZ scenery, even though it may hurt a little in the beginning:) I would love to do this full-time, but I'd need to make enough to match the dole, plus the cost of visiting airports etc. That means at least 300 subscribers, and I'm only a quarter of the way there.

Click the link in the sig for details of the subscription. There's a few screenshots of Wellington, plus a quick video of a heli flight from Porirua.

I love the 'transitional' Wellington airport and the issue 4 scenery! Totally fantastic!! Previously I was using the former payware, now legacy version. I have flown in from Nelson twice using real weather and have been assigned a 34 ILS. I get the glidepath as expected but each time the glideslope is inactive and I end up doing a visual approach (which suits me just fine).
Is the glideslope working for everyone else? If so what do you recommend I check for on my system? I am using VLC - (not FTX) for NZ.

PS - I hope the subscription system does work out, I have been with Godzone since the CD magazine format, and have purchased every product.
Its always top quality, I would love to see Napier and lots more!!!

Cheers,
Mark

Sorry about the wait, Mark, I will look at this as soon as I have the time this week. I admit I just included the original Real NZ Wellington facilities, as I will fine-tune this as the airport is nearing completion. But this should be fixed, I admit.

I appreciate your support, there are some who have given more than their share towards NZ development, and I hope that I can deliver in the end. At the moment, things are still quite up in the air (so to speak); at the moment I'm switching between excitement (four major 'Real NZ' equivalent projects on the go at once, making up the Subscription) and the realization that I'd be better off on the dole, or slinging burgers... As I've said, October is 'crunch' time, and things are not looking great...

At the moment, the positive side is winning, I am pretty sure that the results will be worthwhile, provided I can survive the early stages. If 20% of NZFF members bought a subscription, then I'd be 110% sure that it'll be a success.

Absolutely loving the scenery! Best $99 I've ever spent.

Just done a couple of flights around NZWN and I realise the airport is transitional but I am unable to get a glideslope or dme for the ILS 34, only a localiser. Everything is fine on rwy16. Is it me or are they still to be added?

Cheers

Yes, I do have this noted to fix in the next Wellington issue -- issue six will be 50/50 Hawkes Bay/Wellington, and although this will mainly just extend the photoscenery, I will do some work around the airport, including the facilities.

Oh good it not me then. I shall continue with RNAV approaches until the next installment

Hi Rob,

Was the NZWN installer supposed to put the textures of the airport in the main texture directory?
I didn't like them there so moved them but just wondered if it was a mistake with the installer.

If you're reading this when I've posted it, shutdown the PC and get some much deserved sleep after the issue 6 release... it can wait smile.gif

Funny story. I've been doing installer scripts for so long now that most of the work is copy/paste -- I have tiny bits of script to do most things, it's just a matter of getting them all in the right order. I normally know when things go wrong, because, well, the scenery is stuffed up, but this is the one and only time when it works perfectly, even though it's completely screwed...

My final testing is always done on my old computer, which I've given to my flatmate, so in essence that's the 'beta' testing, which takes place about 10 minutes before the final installer is uploaded. I run the installer on a system which hasn't had this particular scenery before, and then fly over it to make sure everything is in the proper place. In this case it was. However yesterday when I was testing issue 6, I didn't know how to check to see if the glidescope worked (yes, I'm that clueless) so I just opened the folders to make sure that the new file was there -- weird, no texture folder in the Wellington scenery. It did make my blood run cold, that's for sure.

I did a quick fix and uploaded it overnight for any new subscribers. (It takes 4 hours to upload an issue.) I will do a fix for everyone else, but it looks like the scenery works fine anyway. I knew I should have kept the NZWN separate from the rest of the download, I may just upload a separate NZWN installer which doubles as a patcher.

There's now a patch for this on the Subscription site.It fixes a few minor issues with the NZWN scenery as well, plus de-activates the NZPP stub for issue 6.

You turned the 34 ILS localiser back on, but forgot the Glideslope. Can anyone else confirm with the latest update?
