Been revisiting some old favourites after a fresh FSX install and seem to be getting some flickering textures on the apron at Nelson.

A quick google search showed quite a few other people have issues like this in FSX, with different ground polys at a wide variety of addon scenery airports, but no definitive solution.

Not sure if my mesh complexity is set too high (10m), or just my ATI graphics card CCC settings have been chosen incorrectly. Any help appreciated!

There are some strange tarmac numbers and markings there, so I suspect it is a duplicate airport facilities file.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the Orbx double ups. Just pulled ADE_FTX_NZSI_NZNS.bgl, ADE_FTX_NZSI_NZNS_CVX.bgl and ADE_FTX_NZSI_NZNS_objects.bgl out to a backup folder, but now get this instead when loading at NZNS:

Trenches all around the taxiways and seemingly two aprons on top of each other, one hovering about 30ft higher than the aircraft on the bottom apron (in line with the tops of the trenches).

Cheers for the help this far Robin.

Is there another orbx file in Scenery\World\Scenery?

Bingo, that did it! There was an elevation adjustment BGL there I hadn't seen.

If I disable the other elevation BGL's for more NZ airports, can I make addons such as Mike's NZGB and NZRA work with FTX NZNI?

It's certainly worth a try. Some will work better than others, it just depends on how the elevation is handled. If an airport scenery has its own AFCAD-type file and flatten, then it should at least work with the Orbx AFCAD and flatten disabled, but that doesn't mean that it will blend in with the Orbx elevation mesh, so you might get and airport in a hole or on a plateau.

So which orbx files ones did you disable (also in scenery/world/scenery)?

Thanks!
Rob

Normally the Nelson/FTX patch takes care of this for Nelson, but reinstalling can cause a few issues. So does the NZSI patch. In these cases you need to manually track down the duplicates. The easiest way to do this is just to search for the airport code -- NZNS for Nelson. If you find duplicates of any Orbx files, one with .bak extension and one with .bgl extension, then you should delete the .bgl files.
If you ONLY find .bak, then just leave them.
If you ONLY find .bgl, then rename it to .bak.

This goes for any addon airport which you want to try out with FTX NZ. Just search for the airport code and change the extension to disable them.

EDIT: By the way, if you don't find any .bak files in the Orbx folders, you probably haven't run the Nelson patch, so don't rename any, just run the patch.
