Hi All

Finally got round to buying these lovely sceneries and of course was highly impressed by them but noted a couple of problems I was having when checking them out in fs9.

1) Wellington - When barrelling down the runway in spot view, I have texture files in a straight line down the sea side paralell to the runway, which dont go with the terrain, terrain moves up and down, textures are purely flat.

2) Rotorua -The lake level goes up and down in level aswell as the town and immediate coastal surrounds

3) Godzone Tekapo - just off shore from the town I have a b....y great hole in my lake, nice big casm that realy looks cool, but I'm sure isnt in Tekapo IRL lol

I'm using Geographx 75m Mesh and landclass, lakes and rivers fix and whatever else is available for NZ lol

Anyone had similar or know of a fix? (Screenshots will be posted shortly when I get round to installing programme on new pc)

Thanks

Wellington -- I think this may be the 'dimples' referred to here in the FAQ:
Why do I have 'dimples' near the western fence and retaining wall?
If you notice an uneven surface here, or the retaining wall is a bit jumbled, you should make one small change to your FS9.cfg file. Finding this file is tricky, but you can follow the instructions to find and edit it on the Wreckless Behaviour section of the Wellington manual. Take note of the need to make a backup of your FS9.sfg file in case of a problem.

You will need to find and change the TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL= setting. It is easiest to just copy the bold text and paste it into the Edit:Find box within Notepad.

This setting is normally changed only when you install a high-resolution elevation mesh, and the correct values should be:
75 metre mesh = 19
40 metre mesh = 20
20 metre mesh = 21

However, the Wellington scenery requires a setting of at least 20 if you use a 75 metre mesh -- such as the mesh supplied with on the Wellington CD. If the default value is 18 or 19, change it to 20 and save the FS9.sfg file.

If you have a higher resolution mesh, and haven't changed this setting, now would be a good time to do so, as it will improve the display of your mesh New Zealand-wide.

Rotorua -- yes, the lake really requires the Red Baron Topo scenery to display properly. I have been meaning to release a simple lake flatten -- I've written myself a note.

Tekapo -- again, this benefits greatly from the NZ Topo scenery, but the old freeware NZ Lake Level Fix should tidy it up.

Hi Rob.

Thanks for your reply, I must have overlooked the lake levels fix? But I just went through my FS9.CFG and the setting you specified is already @ 20. SHould I drop that back to 19 as normal scenerywould use?

Ok, must be something new. I'd certainly like to see a screenshot of Wellington.

That certainly looks like mesh dimples. Here's my settings, =19 on top, =20 below:

What happens when you change the value to 21?

Do you have a standard FS installation -- i.e. in the default location?

Hi Rob

Changing it to 21 has fixed Wellington (and my Tekapo black hole issue too). Thanks very much for the advice. Now to wait for Rotorua's issues to be sorted lol.

In answer to your other question tho, FS9 install is default paths with GeographX 75m Mesh and landclass files, Christians Lakes & rivers and NZ roads thing...

Thanks again Rob, appreciated
