This is certainly getting close. I have yet to decide whether to leave out some FSX-specific textures, as the late release of SP1 has meant that I haven't been able to do much work on this. This involves the new building textures -- in particular specular maps, self-shading and bump maps.
Self-shading has turned out to be a fizzer for me -- the 'new' shadows are quite light, which I find a bit wussy. For me, bright New Zealand sunlight calls for deep shadows, which I only get from the FS2004-style textures. Bump maps give a somewhat video-game look, which went out in the 90s. Oh well, it was worth a try.
There's also an issue with FSX ground textures, now that the Earth is curved. These worked pre-SP1, mainly due to a bug, but don't work as well with SP1. (the earth actually bulges up through the textures in places.) Again, I don't want to hold up release any further so a workable solution may mean leaving out some textures with FSX.
Autogenning twice -- once for each version -- has been fun
The final beta is about a week away, but this always involves a lot of work on the actual installation, making sure that it will install as intended. Believe me, putting the scenery together is the easy bit compared to that. The initial Wellington release had an installation bug, and I don't want this to happen again.
I would be surprised though if I wasn't shipping by the 7th June.
