I've been reflying Wanaka and Tekapo the last couple of weeks, while building the NZSI-compatibility patch. This is almost ready, I have a working 'switcher', now I just need to build the installer.
The switcher is similar to the Nelson switcher, it'll let you toggle between VLC and NZSI, plus it'll let you switch off the aerial photo, which is useful when flying in winter, as the aerial image is so summery.
But just to show that the photo scenery still works:

That's NZSI in the distance, by the way.

So good if I didn't know better, I'd think it was an actual photograph.

Its not a photo!??!?! laugh.gif If this is the way FSX is going, I might just stay on the FSX bus!

Just when I think I have the patch ready, I get side-tracked by something else...

The Wanaka FSX autogen is pretty much the same as FS2004, so it was definitely time to update it. as well as tidy up the autogen in general, one thing I've wanted to do is to supply a texture for the willows which define the Clutha in this area. This is a simple 'hack' which you can choose to install (it works with default FSX or VectorLandClass) as it replaces the cottonwood textures, which are not overly used in NZ.

Not suitable for Orbx, but the textures they supply for this particular set work fine to represent willows. (I know that Orbx supply their own willow autogen, but this is for their own use.)

...this is with NZSI turned off.

Yeah, I've just walked up to the Summit Road, and saw the crowd down in the village. Should be a good night.

Well, this is really comparing apples and oranges -- NZSI willows are lighter than these trees, I don't really know what these are, but they replace the 'Cottonwood' texture, so a good candidate for 're-purposing' in New Zealand.

I was hoping to get this out this week, but maybe next now. Here's a couple of 'winter' shots, although the aerial photo is still just summer.
