Hi Robin,

I've just noticed when NZ-FEO tries to land it ends up in a shower of sparks and stops out in the lake in line with the hospital. Is there an easy fix ? sad.gif

Cheers

Hi Paul
The lake shouldn't have a different elevation with VLC -- or at least it could, but it shouldn't matter. NZVO was organised so that it would work no matter the mesh -- it supplies it's own set lake level, or at least it should.
I've been trying to duplicate an elevation problem, but haven't managed to.
Do you actually see a change in elevation -- such as a wall of water? If so a screenshot (looking down on the area) would help.
If you turn off crash detection, how does it behave?
Have you following the VLC procedure to set the priority?
Did you install the FSX version, or 'upgrade' from FS2004?

Could it be because the taxi ways are zero width?
Does the scenery include its own traffic or are you using something else?

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

After some more testing it appears only the AI aircraft is affected. All other float planes 'float'. I'm using VLC with Charl's GNZLAP Redux AI and Robin's Rotorua scenery with FSX Acceleration. Is there something that sets the height in the traffic file? It seems to float at the correct height visually. The AI Plane concerned is the cessna 206 Stationair ZK-FEO.

Further observations show similar problems at Taupo. Back at NZVO I got stuck in the cub behind a floatplane trying to take off.

I guess I'm asking whether anybody else is seeing this behaviour aftter installing VLC.

That's the HTAI ZK-FEO model? If so, the problem may be because the effects section of the aircraft.cfg file calls: concrete = fx_sparks. Edit/comment this out and replace the effect with another fx (for example: concrete=fx_spray). (If you have it, I would use: fx_AI_floatplane_spray-and-wake.fx, available as part of Holger Sandman's FS9 AI floatplane package.) Just a thought.

Thanks Dorian but suspect the aircraft is hitting the bottom as it is unable to move. I'll check out the effects also.

Are your AI floatplanes behaving normally? I've been finding errors in the GNZLAP file eg ZK-DXC was supposed to be at NZVO but found it parked up at Tauranga. The paint job suggests it should be on Lake Taupo actually. On checking the traffic file I'm told this plane can't be found but I can see it at Tauranga. Strange things are happening!

All my float AI are working fine; but, then I'm still using FS9.

Hi Dorian, I've checked out your suggestions but they are still no go.

I still feel the AFCAD for NZVO must need a height change to accomadate the VLC mesh.

Does anybody else using VLC and FSX have floatplanes coming and going? I really need to know if this is just my setup.

Cheers
Paul

Do you use the original Real NZ AFCAD, or something edited for GNZLAP?

Hi Rob, good question. I'll check but I suspect the GNZLAP one.

OK Rob, I found I had two different Afcads, one from 2006 in addon scenery\scenery and a 2007 one in the RealNZRotorua\scenery. I have now deleted the older ones but nothing has changed. Can you or anybody else please set the time to about 16:15 and follow ZK-FEO as it comes into land and verify it parks normally. Another thing I've noticed is that ZK-EFI is jittering at the base like it can't get going.

Hoping someone can help,
Paul

-Nudge Nudge . . . Judging by the deafening silence I will assume I'm the only one with this problem in FSX VLC. unsure.gif

Very strange, I'll keep working on it.

Another Update. I found the same problem exists on Lake Taupo.

In desperation I've stoked up my older rig pre-VLC. Same Problem at Volcanic Air! So the problem appears to be either the plane config (ZK-FEO) or something went wrong in the conversion of the FS9 Traffic file.

So at least the problem isn't VLC or Robin's scenery! I'll try and change the plane to another floatplane.

I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem.

Cheers
Paul
