Defnitely not Hokitika ...was thinking that it could be Oamaru (presumably its the Canterbury plains)...but the runway is sealed there (?)..so my guess is Ashburton...actually I am sure its Ashburton

This should be released once the VLC patch is done. I would like to see it as an example of what simple VLC-blended airfields could be like, provided VLC is adopted as the 'default' NZ.
It also depends on the availability of an aerial image for each airfield -- this is 30cm, supplied by the local council. Getting the support of the council is a huge boost to the FS community, but it doesn't always happen. My intention is to release small airfields as freeware provided the base aerial image resources are supplied, like Ashburton here.

Since visiting Hokitika, I've kind of got a bit carried away with the 'character' of the town, and have started to build Hokitika in detail... I'm a sucker for churches, and old wooden towns.

Y'know, as soon as I saw the jungle gym I thought of Ashburton.

I have a shiteload of photos I took a while back and passed on to Lawrie for his FS9 version.
Just sing out if you would like me to email them to you.

Did the council give you the images in colour, or was it a colourisation job?

Yep, Hoki's a great little town to model in detail: look forward to it... thumbup1.gif

Thanks for the offer, but I'm only an hour away from Ashburton, so I have no problem getting photos. I am planning to go back tomorrow to fill a couple of gaps, mainly because the weather forecast tonight singled out Ashburton as nice and warm tomorrow...

The Ashburton Distict Council have a very nice online mapping system, including a nice colour image, so I knew what I wanted before I contacted them. They kindly offered to send me a disc with the airport tiles. It's great when it works out like that.
