Because I firmly believe there is no such thing as a stupid question, I will go ahead and ask:

Do I need to install addon aircraft/repaints to get the Qantas, AirNZ, Freedom planes to show up an NZWN?

In the screenshots and on the packaging etc, I can see lovely Qantas and AirNZ 737's... but when I installed and loaded up NZWN last night, I had some random, non-existant airline instead :(

I checked the manual and readme etc, and I could not see anything mentioned there...

am I missing something obvious here?

cheers,
HCP

Welcome to the world of AI, HC!
FS has default AI traffic which you need to dump in its entirety...
Then you need to install other better AI which shows your favourite airlines and planes.
It's not a trivial exercise, think of it as moving scenery.
My AI folder is 4.5GB

Most of the AI in the screenshots are from VOZ AI, which was temporarily available a few months ago, but taken off the market. All these AI are available freely on the web, but if you can get hold of the VOZ AI installer then you'll have a head start.
Many of the aircraft are Jon Murchison's, available here.

Ahhhh ok.... A little obvious I guess, Scenary does not really include pretty planes flying around (unless you count statics, which you shouldnt, coz they're ugly and suck fps)

Should have known that MS would not have made it so easy on the designers :(

Ok, so I need to track down an 'illegal' VOZ AI installer, or spend hours manually setting it up... woohoo <_<

Maybe you should put an 'AI Not Included' sticker on the CD Robin :D

On the plus side, I guess once you have it setup properly, it will be included in all the airports (assuming you have the right schedules setup??)

Thanks for the info guys... guess I will be doing some mad downloading this evening...

FYI, VOZ is currently beta testing the successor version which fixes the problems of the old version. Some AI has been replaced with lower quality AI where authors haven't given permission...

Anyway, if you can wait a bit you will be able to download the 'all-in-one' pack again (not sure exactly when though, but I would think this month)

I'm using Flight1's Ultimate Traffic combined with the GNZLAP.

This is what the international terminal looks like at NZWN for me:

Hmmm, you're right, there is a disclaimer on the packaging which mentions 'other addon scenery elements not included in this package', but this is the same wording I've always used, I should have included AI for Wellington.
I don't think the packaging is the problem, though, as nobody buys the scenery from looking at the packaging. The screenshots on the web are a different matter, though, so I might add a disclaimer there.

I was kinda joking... but ok... good idea... i'll take 10% commission on all sales :)

As it turns out, I managed to locate the voz ai pack... in a most surprising place[1]. Currently coming down at 470Kb/s

cheers,
HCP

[1] - ie. not warez or dodgy, but on the (gaming) file server of a fairly major non-NZ ISP.

That would be the one that was set up after the posturing from David Rawlins would it? The one that John Koorby would not endorse even though its hosted on Jay Kaes server.

Sorry to say this but I am getting overwhelmed with the amount of AI downloads doing the rounds at the moment that seem to conflict with other already near perfect work.

I tweaked my system just right for AI befor installing VOZ AI then bang after installing it found I was one of the many that lost my original files and even default repaints.

Tread with caution! Install in a seperate folder first rather than using the autoinstall direct into your FS9 set up.

not sure... but the one I found it on starts with "B" and ends in "igPond Game Arena" ;)

I did not have this problem... as i had no AI installed. I had seen on the VOZ forum that people were a bit miffed that their PAI configs got nuked :( but as I didnt have anything I was not concerned...

will have to look at GNZLAP now... see if I cant get NZAR looking busy like it should be :)
