I assume you are talking about the buildings? That's because they are not sitting on the ground, they are sitting on a 3D model. Try landing on it -- no don't, you'll crash. I also removed the shadow from that model, otherwise it shows up as a big dark ridge.

Thanks for the shots, the waterfront was probably the only area placed from scratch for FSX, so things should be more accurate.

Do you have the Texture resolution turned up to 2 metres? Your ground textures don't look any sharper in FSX, in fact they look softer.

Everything is maxxed.
Maybe somebody with something other than an 8-series video board could post a screenshot?

I get the same result, really. I think it has more to do with that nice textured overlay which FS2004 gives to this type of scenery.
