If you use FSX, you really should check out 'Supercity' in the Godzone Store -- this is a completely new FSX version of Auckland City.
However if you don't wish to upgrade to Supercity, you can install the FS2004 version in FSX. Please contact me for details.
I want to remove the included AFCAD files
(The reasons for these AFCAD files are explained on page 6 of the manual.) To remove the AFCAD files which the Auckland City installer added:
NOTE: PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS SECTION BEFORE YOU BEGIN, AND MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING! DELETING OR RENAMING THE WRONG FILES MAY EFFECT YOUR FLIGHT SIMULATOR PERFORMANCE!
Open the Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery folder. You will need to be able to see file extensions for the next steps! If you don't see file extensions:
From Windows Explorer, click on the Tools menu and choose Folder Options. Go to the View tab. There is an option there: Hide Extension for known file types. Make sure this is unselected. Close the options dialog boxes. You should see these files:
- AF2_NZAA.bgl
- AF2_NZAR.bgl
- AF2_NZME.bgl
- AF2_NZRV.bgl
- AF2_NZWP.bgl
These are, respectively, Godzone Virtual Flight addon AFCAD files for Auckland Intl, Ardmore, Mercer, Reeve and Whenuapai. You can remove any or all of these if you wish.
To remove them, simply 'delete' them to the Recycle Bin.
If you had previous AFCAD files in the standard AFCAD filename format (see the manual for an explanation) then they would have been renamed by the Auckland City installer to deactivate them. To reactivate them, they need to be renamed, replacing the .GVF extension with .bgl -- there should be a corresponding AFCAD file backup for each addon AFCAD file you had before the installation:
- AF2_NZAA.GVF
- AF2_NZAR.GVF
- AF2_NZME.GVF
- AF2_NZRV.GVF
- AF2_NZWP.GVF
To rename these files, right-click on the file name and choose rename. Move the curser to the end of the name, backspace to remove the GVF, and retype bgl -- if you accidentally delete the whole filename, press 'Esc' and start again.
One last step -- if you chose to install the AFCAD files, there was another file installed to fix the incorrect elevations of many of these airports. To remove this 'fix':
Open the folder "Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Scenery\Ocen\scenery".
Find the file called GVF994450.bgl and delete it to the Recycle Bin. Now find the backup file called FL994450.GVF and rename it FL994450.bgl -- you are just changing the extension, the same way you did for the AFCAD files
