FS2004, SB4 on different computers

For everything about online flying around New Zealand

Postby danieljrm23 » Mon Jan 12, 2009 10:40 am

Hi,

I've recently installed FS2004, FSUPIC and WideFS On my normal computer, as well as the Required SB4 for Flight sim only.
ON my other PC I have installed WideFS client, and SB4 for that computer,

WideFS connects correctly,
but when i try connect SB4, it says cannot find FSUIPC, I have disabled all firewalls and anti-virus programs for this, also set the computers in the same workgroup.
Is there any settings or config files i need to change?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Have you read the WideFS manual, and followed all of the instructions?

Sorry I haven't got time to offer any more suggestions at the moment, I'll post some stuff to help you this evening winkyy.gif

Hey, I had a quick look, I've added Squawkbox so that it opens when WideFS does, but thats all, I'll read more into it tonight. Thanks

Sorry that I didn't get a chance to reply last night.

Ok, lets do the obvious first, look at Pete Dowson's Support forum for help.
That is the official source for troubleshooting for WideFS.

If you have no luck there, read on.

Have you checked your firewall settings?
I seem to remember in the manual you sometimes have to list the IP addresses of the computers being networked together.

Do the computers have similar IP addresses?

i.e. 10.0.0.5 and 10.0.0.8 or 192.168.1.5 and 192.168.0.9
for the above ranges the subnet mask would need to be set to 255.255.255.0 on both computers.

If you already know how to change these settings, then that's brilliant! - if not, post the manufacturer and model of router that you are using, and someone will try to find a tutorial to help you set things up correctly.

Hope that helps,

Matthew
